hey im in so dire need of help...im picking up falco which i have tried to avoid using spacies because of the amount if tech skill required. i main sheik and use c. falcon on the side but i really need to add someone else to my game.

what are the necessities that i need to learn to play him. AT like l cancelling and wavedashing things of that nature i am decent at and am continually practicing. tips of character matchups plus stage bans/ counterpicks would help alot and maybe like a top five list of things you absolutely need to be able to do to be good with falco...any help would be much appreciated!!!

1. SHL
2. Shuffling
3. Waveshining
4. More SHL
5. Ledge-hopping attacks

These are very broad but still are a HUGE part of Falco's game. You know a Falco knows what he is doing when he starts off with SHL. Shuffling Dairs are second only to the shine itself in shine comboes. Shuffling period will make your Falco faster. Waveshining provides you with the speed to get out of the shine and continue your combo. Ledge-hopped Dairs are a great way to edgeguard foes who try to go above you. Also LHL is useful after recovering. There is a guide stickied for character matchups in this forum.

yeah i read it thanks alot for the help. what are situations where you would want to waveshine instead of just shorthopping out the shine? or do you mean wavedashing into a shine?

Waveshining is wavedashing out of shine. I usually ws instead of short-hop because I get more horizontal movement from a ws. This is better for following opposing DI while doing shine combos.

waveshine on fastfallers (i.e. fox falco falcon), this makes for much better combos

jc shine when chars go higher (pretty muche everyone else, but marth's a good example)
