I've seen M2K use marth's fair against falco to finish them off but whenever I use the fair, I end up making my opponent go upwards and not toward death. What part of the sword do I have to hit with? The tip, the middle or the part closest to marths body?

Only the tip will send them up. So if your trying to swat them off the stage from a firefox you want to try not to hit with the tip.

If your sending them really far up out of combo range than their percentage must be pretty high around 90-100ish. Maybe a Nair would be more appropiate to your purpose as this point because the second slash will most likely put him offstage and then you can edgeguard/hog w/e. Or fair with the middle part of the blade like Arcnatural said until your close enough to nair them off the edge. I think a non-tippered fair to fsmash can be appropriate but thats a little risky.

I would also recommend a Forward tilt to knock falco off. Hit him with the tip and it sends him farther than you think. Since it knocks him straight it opens up more options that just a FAIR.
