Facing the screen?

Sakurai had a post a while back about characters facing the screen, as in, they no longer show their backs to the screen when they turn around. But in videos, it seems to like that's not true. It looks like smash always has? Am I missing something?

Which character are you using?

Sakurai said characters who are perfectly symmetrical will not show their backs, but characters who are asymmetrical still will.

characters like mario will always face the screen, while others like link (sword and shield) will not
