So, I bought the second game on PC recently, and I must say, it's pretty enjoyable. It doesn't do much gameplay-wise to stand out from the crowd. The slow-motion mechanic from the first game returns, but the rest is standard FPS material. Not that it's a bad thing. Everything in the game is solidly-implemented, and it looks pretty nice for running on a dated engine. (It's an enhanced version of the engine that powered the original F.E.A.R.) The horror ambience is definitely there, and Alma is just as creepy as ever. Multiplayer is bare-bones average, but there is a mode that allows you to control a massive mech-suit in a team deathmatch-style conflict that's pretty entertaining.

I'd recommend buying it if you're a fan of the first game, but it's pretty tentative. People seem to be on opposite sides of the love/hate spectrum on this one.

which one you think is scarier?
the first or the second.

I heard of F.E.A.R. and heard that it was scary. 0.0
so uhh... what do you mean by tentative. (i suck at vocab..)
Well, I think the first one had more "holy $#!7" moments than the second one, but the second one has more disturbing creatures running around and a few moments that completely **** your skull, so, I'd say they're about even.

By tentative recommendation, I mean that I'm not sure whether or not you're going to love or hate the second game, but I still think you should try it to see what you think. People seem to be very picky about it.

I guess this thread ***** my thread: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=223388

But regardless, FEAR 2 was mediocre to me in terms of gameplay. The scares were subtle and frequent mind****s at the beginning and eventually wore off into "something will pop out of that corner" and became sparse with more action instead.

It's still pretty solidly put together, and the ending certainly made up for the lack of freaky moments during the middle of the game.

I searched for F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin (written exactly like that) and no results came up. This thread was originally about the second game, but when I saw you'd already posted that, I changed it to cover the whole series. I find it funny that moderators tell us to rely on a search function that doesn't work.

Bumped simply because this series is awesome and deserves the attention. Also because I posted the link to the free multiplayer component of the first game, its patch, and there was really no other way to draw attention to the thread.
