The roster complaining is odd in my opinion. We've gotten alot of great character confirmations over Brawls development that it seemed many wanted ( DDD, Olimar, Lucas, MetaKnight, Diddy, Ike etc) and reconfirmation of Shiek. Now near the end we have gotten the much requested Lucario and reconfirmations a fan favorites C. Falcon, Marth, Ness, Jigglypuff, Falco, Luigi, and Ganondorf. Granted its seemed a favorite pass time for people to hate on G&W and it seemed like the community imploded when ROB was confirmed but they both make interesting, unique additions to the roster.

Some are disappointed that their favorite pick wasn't included (personally I wanted Ridley and Krystal) but they translate this disappointment into hatred for the entire thing. People complain about the roster size but what it boils down to is a bunch of fans of /x/ character who now supposedly can't enjoy the game because /x/ character isn't in. Honestly, read alot of the comments, the worst offender of which is "there are far more deserving characters then what is there.". More deserving? to who? you? your group of friends? Obviously some peoples picks for 'more important' arn't universal due to many actually being happy with the roster. On top of it all if it is truly just the number you are dissapointed in please remember Sakurai wanted it to be balanced and the larger a roster grows for any game the harder it is to balance.

I do know the disappointment many are going through, I wanted Ridley and Krystal. I too also believe if he wanted the roster could have been bigger. But neither of these make me disappointed as a whole with the roster because I realize that the game was built for more then just me.
Thinking back to my title, its like every one is a parent who wanted to see a schools playand learned their child had auditioned for lead, but now can't stand the cast because their child didn't make it...

(heres to hoping for some wacky ways to unlock more chars :psycho:)

I'm personally more disapointed that Sakurai included some of these characters as INTENTIONAL clones. I mean, he can make a million features, the greatest adventure ever, and practically no limits on personalization..
Yet he can't give Ganondorf, the evilest Nitendo character with hundreds of possibilities, an original moveset?

I am almost praying for downloadable characters now >_<

Do you honestly believe that StarFox, a franchise that has been going downhill since the N64 era with only five games (only one that was really good) deserves three characters before other franchises deserve two?

Metroid, eight games, one of them on par with Ocarina of Time in terms of greatness. It was brought back to life 7 years ago and has once again become one of Nintendo's most popular franchises (on a global scale, more than Japan counts). Yet... it technically only has one playable character?

Fire Emblem, with ten games, and one of the most popular franchises in Japan, growing in popularity worldwide due to the somewhat recent international releases. I don't see how it should not get a third character before StarFox either.

There is no denying franchise popularity and sales, StarFox lacks in both of those but it still tied for the third most represented franchise in Brawl. How does that make sense? It's also far from a minority of people who feel this way.

Then there is the fact there are clones of clones... which is just ridiculous in itself. Even clones in Brawl on the current roster is ridiculous.

Nobody seems to understand that the dojo was a present, they could have given us nothing and then the people complaining would be saying:

"Ike oh joy!"

"Diddy Kong! about time!"

"Metaknight and Dedede? GREAT"

"WOAH SONIC NO WAI"

But no, the dojo spoiled you and now you get mad we don't get another 20 characters, it's really too bad.

The dojo did spoil us, but then again it's our own fault for reading the updates. To move on to the topic, some of you still don't get it. Half the reason some of us hate the roster is because of the quality, not quantity (although imo, the number of characters should've been at the very least, 40). I would've had no problem with characters like ROB if characters like Ridley, Geno, Isaac or Krystal made the cut first. I believe Sakurai's biggest mistake was focusing too much on SSE, ATs and game modes rather than the roster and characters themselves. The result = Luigified versions of Link, Ness, Captain Falcon and Fox.

Ugh.
Star Fox got a villain rep and a helper rep.
Metroid, who's been around longer and has sold more, has ZSS who you can't even choose off the select screen and is still Samus.
Of course I feel cheated, considering that Ridley was the only thing I was hoping would be in the roster. I didn't give a **** about anyone else, frankly. <_<

Clones arent really a bad thing.

Yes a tottaly new moveset WOULD have been better, but in a way, clones ARE different characters.

For example, I'll take the Fox and Falco clone in Melee. They may have had the same movesets,
but the difference between these movesets were their properties.

Fox was very quick and could attack quickly, while Falco sacrificed speed for a teensy power boost and improved jumping ability. This could make all the difference in the world for a player.

One might not like how swift Fox is and finds Falco easier to handle, or maybe one finds Falco too clunky and prefers Fox.

I myself prefer Falco much MUCH over Fox. Also, even though a lot of the attacks LOOK the same(IE Fox/Falco's downtilt) They are VERY different.

Things like how much knockback there is behind every attack matters aswell.
