Everyone has a different Mortal Kombat favourite though.

Not everyone will have the same opinion or agree, and i'm pretty sure if Sub Zero made, the most we'll see is people freezing everyone with him.

I started off as a Sub Zero fan and this was going well into Mortal KOmbat 2 for quite a while too, then on a different note I chose Kung Lao, and found to be my true favourite. I just got sick of freezing and taking the easy way out, plus Sub Zero's fatalities kind of became repettitve.

I also enjoyed seeing Kung Lao have a brighter future in Mortal Kombat. Being in every game from MK2 onwards.

Kung Lao would be my pick, but I'm not too sure about what the rest of MK fans would prefer, but I would pretty much rather see Mortal Kombat stick to its own side, and not move into Smash Bros. We also have to remember Mortal Kombat has no official mascot(Well maybe Liu Kang, or Shang Tsung) and what Smash Bros is a about mainly is incase we've forgotten is a mascots beat em' up.

I also reckon Mortal Kombat will just not fit with the rest of the Smash Bros. cast.

You've got to be kidding me? I don't believe this. So are you telling me that not a single Mortal Kombat character is deemed worthy to fight with the best of SSBB characters? Just cause they're game has a lot of gore? Nah man, to me adding an MK character to da roster would be Nintendo's way of thinkin outside da box ya know what I'm sayin. C'mon fellas.

I agree with the general consensus; it could work, and it'd be kinda cool, but...it feels inappropriate in theory.

I dunno, I know there's the whole thing "Yeah but look at what MGS does in gore and violence!" yeah, yeah, I know. It just feels wrong to me though.

EDIT: Oh, and it's also because if you want to pair "Good times" with "Fighting game old school," you think Street Fighter, not Mortal Kombat. At least I do. Ken > Scorpion anyday.

Here's the way I see it.

Every character in the Smash Bros. game has SOME kiddish fantasy to them, that makes them unique for brawl. Even Snake, where the MGS games did have alot of comedy to them, mostly Otacon and his ******** antics. Pokemon, Star Fox, Donkey Kong, the Mario world in general, they all have a sense of fantasy that relates to the Smash brothers theme, which is "Throw them off the stage, not kill them." Mortal Kombat however, doesn't use that.

Mortal Kombat, and all of its characters, are pure bloody killers. After you win the battles, you get to do a fatality to them and rip their heads off, have you ever seen that in a Mario or Pokemon game? Of course not. Not even MGS has gone that far, if you think about it, and even then MGS can be beat just using tranquilizers on the bosses instead of real guns. (Not counting Metal Gear REX, and any other types of machinery). So really, where does Scorpion and Sub Zero fit into this?

Make Sub Zero non bloody? He can't kill? Just punch and kick til you're out of the ring? That doesn't make much sense.

And to top it all off, we can only have 2 more third party characters, and those should be saved for some GOOD characters that people love, not generic fighters from a third rate fighting game.

Comments are in red,

Mortal Kombat has alot of humor in it. The gore is so over the top it is funny rather then sickening in many instances. It really isn't a dark game such as Silent Hill or Resident Evil. It seems fairly light hearted despite limbs being torn off. And a character like Scorpion can be represented in Smash and fit in just as well as say Snake. Snake kills too, but the thing is I would say when Snake kills it is more realistic. Which can be seen as more disturbing. I am not saying MK should necessarily be represented, but I think that the past history of gore would not be a problem.

Scorpion and Sub Zero fit in because it is a fighting game that represents gaming history. Scorpion and Sub Zero were in a movie (two actually) and they are fairly popular. And hitting someone off a ledge is close enough to killing. Heck, Link impales characters with his hookshot and lands on their head with a sword and Bowser jams his claws into a person's belly before flinging their limp body aside. They can fit.

LoZ :MM has a lot of violence in it.

Earthbound has plenty of themes in it as well.

Bowser gets knoked into lava and all the flesh on his body is torn away in NSMB, and Samus come on people.

need I go on with everyone else?

(all right I'm a Smash Child now!)

I'm sorry MK people, but MK sucks ***. aside from being one of the first games with explicit and overexagerated gore, what is good about it? Fackin nothing dudes, the gameplay is slow and choppy. the characters have all the same movesets except for their specials (im talking mostly about early titles. mixed it up a bit in the newer games, but those games still made me want to punch myself in the balls while wearing brass knuckles rather than play them). It pains me to say this, but I will agree that sub zero, kano, scorpion and lu kang were pretty cool. the only character that i can see in brawl is sub-zero, and I'm even hesitant about him. but overall MK sucks and has no business being in a game featuring characters from the best nintendo games.

sorry for the strong response ziggs but i fuking hate MK, nothing personal.

Metal Gear Solid is violent to be realistic. Mortal Kombat is volent to be absurd.

Being violent to be absurd wouldn't really fit within Smash's themes, in my book.

There was violence in Majora's Mask? Where?
Okay maybe with Sword fighting and boss battles, but that seems to be it. Stalkid didn't even put up a fight.

But that's a different kind of violence in my view.

That's more of a understandbale violence. Okay Gannondorf has taken over Hyrule, he can not be stopped it's time to go to drastic measures.
The old good vs evil, where fighting evil in violent ways can be seen as right.

Of course Mortal Kombat could be seen this way too. But Mortal Kombat adds that extra taste that we rarely see in most video games. BLOOD, GUTS AND GORE!! Which makes it just a tad different to Smash Bros, or any other franchise for that matter.

I have to admit it, that was well said.

Ah yes, thats just what we need. Characters from a game made famous only by the fountains of blood and its reception in the media as being one of the most violence-oriented videogame controversies of all time.

Mortal Kombat doesn't even have a considerable fan base anymore. They all moved on to games that don't suck.

this idea is'nt nearly as bad as "Midna for brawl" or "twink for brawl" but seriously if any fighters get in, it'll prolly be Ryu :ohwell:

Ok, I don't really care if MK is in it or not, but why do everyone assume if MK characters were in the game, their specials have to be bloody? No, it doesn't. They could just use ome kind of special attack that blasts enemies away or better yet, two cool moves. Friendship and Babality, both which are kind of funny and aren't violent.

But like I said, I don't care much for it, but any any game character has a chance to make it in a SSB game(I'm doubting porn characters though..).
