i noticed that whenever someone is on a platform and they are shielding and their opponent is on the ground, the opponent will try an arial move, consiquently knocking them off the platform relieving them from shield pressure.
heres an example, happens in alot of games. 2:46-2:49: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nfof6lgpsDE&feature=related
now last time i was playing a cpu, i noticed that in that situation, they'll often b-up resulting in an attack (because it is similar to a grapple), which is much better then relieving them of shield pressure. i know this can only be done with falcon but the same technique can also be done with yoshi's neutral b and kirby's neutral b (not as effective because of high start up time).
most effective on dreamland.
im yet to see this method used at all. i reckon it could work, i'd like to hear some thoughts on it.

It could work from time to time if the opponent is not expecting it. I've found random Falcon upB's to be useful in moderation. Seeing the trick done with Kirby and Yoshi is rarer though. Try it out on people, post some vids?

I believe s2j made a video about how to use this to your advantage on both the knocking off and getting "pushed" side.... looking for it but can't seem to find it... go go gadget search...

Ya. This gets used all the time. The video in question is here. What happens to me all the time is that I'll be shielding near an edge and someone'll hit me and knock me off, and I'll do an aerial by accident, leading to a silly low % death.

I might be misunderstanding you. Maybe you're talking about something more complicated than a simple edgeshield->attack.

In your example of playing as Falcon, attacking a shield on a platform above - Maybe I'm a noob and this wouldn't be realistically viable for some reason, but wouldn't it be better to, say, do a quick uair or two to weaken the shield enough to expose the feet, and then up-smash? that'd leave more combo options and also probably be less punishable than a missed up-b.

after thinking about it more, why not just do an aerial onto the platform, land it quickly, and then grab? especially if you're playing a character with a drill. I guess the b attack is there as a changeup but there are probably better, less punishable options most of the time. just angle your attacks such that the hitback throws them away from the edge instead of off it.

I love it when something like Link's B-Air pushes them off the platform and the second hit connects and then you do something from it.

it is also effective for samus, a well placed up b will usually mean shield breaker, especially if they haev already recieved a few arial hits first

oh yeah i was gonna mention that. also works if someone is shielding under the tent and you b-up, auto shield break.
