Smash 3DS eShop vs. Retail...

Okay, so, here's the deal. The two stores in my town that carry video games did not get Smash Bros. last week. Why they didn't order a crapton a week early is beyond me. So I'm left with two options. The first is to wait until Monday or Tuesday for either Hastings or Walmart to get it in stock. The second option is to, obviously, buy the eShop download. My problem is that I prefer having physical packages over data. So my question to you guys is this. Retail or eShop? Or is there a way to get the eShop and get the retail version later without having to re-unlock everything?

Retail is definitely better. Eshop takes too much space.

Eshop is cheaper
Not here it isn't
granted there isn't much in the difference, but anyway
I ended up going eShop because I wanted to be guaranteed to have it on launch day. Regret it a little now, since there were still loads of copies in store here when I checked at about 12pm Friday. I'd go retail if I had the chance again.

Retail
As to why they didn't have enough copies, did you preorder? If you knew you were getting the game you should have.

Someone mentioned about the eShop download version crashing at certain game modes. So far, I haven't seen any problems with my retail copy.

I've seen a number of these posts concerning the crashing in game. A common denominator is that these posts are by people with the eshop version. Selection bias, sure, but I definitely recommend the physical copy. Saves SD card space as well.

Eshop basically takes an entire SD card. Its just shy of 10k blocks which i believe is a little over 2GB of data. Could be wrong on that one. I had to delete Mario Kart 7 (face it who the hell plays that anyway) to make room. I'd rather download my games because i cant lose them while i travel. Even if i lose my SD card when/if i get multiples i can just redownload them.
I even lost my 3DS once when i was leaving South Korea (im ex military) and Nintendo helped me recover my games by tracking through the credit card. Only game i lost was oddly enough the only game i had a physical card for - Monster Hunter 3U (with my save...200ish hours gone...FML!!)

A 32GB SDHC card runs less than 20 USD these days. I don't know why "too much space" is a point against getting eshop if you like having all your games in one place at all.

Oddly enough one can argue physical games take up too much space on the shelves =P

But no one mentions that.

But that's because we're proud of our collections.

I have a 64GB SD Card, so if you have abundant space like me, you can download it.

If you like the physical copy, go for it. It would be nice to have one as well.

Really? My eShop copy of the game is working totally fine and I've explored and spammed a bunch of matches. Maybe it was fixed in the patch that we weren't aware about?

i think the eshop version bug hes referring to is occational, not fact. I have eshop too and i havent a single issue. Sometimes when i queue For Glory i get an error and have to requeue, but this is nintendo i see that error ALL THE DAMN TIME no matter the game.
There is a bug that crashes the game entirely some people are affected by. Bad luck makes it appear basically, as its an installation thing.
