Revival of Melee II, held in Nanuet, NY over the weekend of Nov. 21-22, was a smashing success. Even though certain celebrity smashers were unable to attend, there were even more competitors (~160) than the original RoM and consequently a great upsurge in enthusiasm and community fun for the East Coast Melee scene. Not that the competitors were limited to East Coasters - far from it. Mango and Lucky among others represented the West Coast with pride, and Kage headed up the Canada contingent. Below are many of the pictures I took at the event - check out the photos on flickr for the full set.

On Saturday afternoon as singles pools were just starting to get rolling, de facto TO Scar was all business as he called out names in true suited-up fashion.

PB&J was also all business selling awesome RoM and truegamer shirts via a table in the middle of the room. Crismas was also there with super cute stickers!

It was a great tournament for stuffies - they were chillin on TVs and much loved by players, even ones they didn't belong to.

In the very front of the room, Alukard's ladies manned the registration table while Scar and others prowled the laptops running tournament bracket programs, video recording, and live streaming with commentary.

The competition was intense as some of the best smashers of the East and West coasts (and Canada) duked it out on big screen TVs for RoM glory. Others standing and sitting behind the top competitors fell captive to the drama unfolding before them.

There were certainly some well-known smashers who showed up to the event, even just for friendlies. PC Chris and legendary old school player Papa Dave demonstrated that you don't have to even compete in a tournament to smash in style.

Speaking of well-known smashers, Mango certainly left his mark.

And everyone enjoys a good friendly match!

Some of us also had some fun times at whitecastle and crashing the night at Mogwai's place, as well as playing a rather complicated card game.

Fun posed pictures!

After (this should be the cover of a smashcore indie album)

Thanks to everyone who went and everyone who cheered the competitors on, whether live or from the forums. It was a great time! Props to Alukard and Scar for organizing the event!
