Do you like to produce music or DJ? What's your setup? Do you own a DAW like Pro Tools or Logic?

I use Ableton Live and I must say it is one of the best pieces of software I've used, right up there with MS Excel (I'm not being sarcastic). Way better than Logic in my opinion. I also use Reason which I Re-Wire to Live and I have a couple of Native Instruments synths that are pretty amazing.

I've got a ten year-old Casio keyboard (haha) that I hook up to my laptop with a USB-MIDI cable and a Novation Remote SL-25 that's quite useful. Currently I have no amps.

I got a keyboard too. But, I only know how to mimic tunes from game music I've heard before. And I only learn the songs through trial and error (I can't even read the music sheet). If I knew how to play the piano legitimately, I'd definitely come up with some sick tunes. I've been listening to video game tunes for years (18 years to be exact)! A lot of the music is super underrated (Or under listened to and therefore underrated)

I've got Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Reason, and Fruity Loops Studio. I have an Alesis Fusion Keyboard and a decent Marshall Tube Mic and preamp to record Audio.

Ableton is my favorite interface for electronic music, although Reason is quite useful as well.

Great to hear that other smashers dig making digital music. I wanna get a microKorg pretty bad but I'm saving up for MAX for Live which is probably one of the most insane combinations of software applications, ever. If any of y'all have stuff online, like a myspace or something, you should post that. I'd love to see what other people are up to. I'll definitely post a link to some of my stuff when I'm not lazy haha.

Me, I'm quite into composing music for orchestras and arranging it for concert band. For that, I use Finale 2010. I've always wanted to try out other programs like FLStudio and stuff, too, though.

Sometime, I might link you guys to my work.

Could anyone link me to a comparison of the best available midi usb keyboards? It's been tough trying to figure out what's good and what's not. I would ideally want something with drum/synth/strings settings, something simple, for under 200 dollars >_>

hey thanks for the replies, guys. Sorry it's been a while. McCloud if you want a good MIDI keyboard check out the Novation Remote SL. I got one off musiciansfriend.com for $150 and it's easily the best value on any keyboard I can find. It comes with Automap software which automatically maps your controllers to whatever software you're using; it saves sooo much time. Also the keys are nice and responsive and it's a very well-built piece of equipment. You might have a hard time finding it for that cheap, I think they normally run for much higher than that price, but it's definitely worth it. If you watch a lot of videos of music producers or DJs, you'll see a Novation Remote 25SL in almost every single one.

Haha sorry didn't mean to advertise or anything but I definitely had to talk this one up.
