I was reading through the threads and looking at alot of questions including my own. Then this thought occurred to me alot of people having problems beating a charactor they don't know how to gimp. There are threads about improving your game playing against a character or what you should be doing "while" fighting but what about when you knock them off the stage and you are going to "edge guard" what tactics are you going to use. they don't have a gimping or edge guarding thread . So maybe we can start a thread which we can use as a reference for dealing with a particular character. Lets say you already read some of the nice information posted up in the threads now your doing it with this its helping you to keep them off. Thats all I'm saying :)

Just a note, Samus, Link, TLink, and Sheik all have Tether recovery options. Charizard, Pit, & MK(duh) can glide as well if you're counting that as an alternate recovery. Wario, Ganon, Sonic, Ike, Falcon, Fox, Falco, Diddy, Luigi, & Wolf have their side-b specials. And lastly, every one of MK's specials can be used as a recovery.

Side note, Marth's shieldbreaker/neutral-b can give some horizontal distance when fully charged from the air.

Side note 2: Luigi also has a bit of vertical/horizontal gain from his down-b.

Help a bit? ^_^

I'll update it in the morning I guess I guess because I am tired I am making such mistakes however I thank everyone for they're input and I'll trying fixing it in the morning. I think this thread could possibly end up important because if you can't keep the person off the stage in most cases you won't win. Also if you guys can help me fill in the edge guarding materials that I was unsure off because there were not exactly a surplus of players for me fight to try to gimp they're recovery.

yeah, a list of techs that work arent very helpful without a discription.

ill help... heres a few off the top of my head:

Space animals (fox/falco/wolf):

Its hard to actually gimp these guys if they are good, but you can do it if they use up b instead of side b. (if they are coming from below, it will have to be upb. this is gimpable with a well timed dair) Fox/falco's upb have startup time, and can be gimped while they are starting it up. Hit them out of it for the kill.

If they are too far away, or you suspect they will use sideb, you have a couple options.
1) if they are far enough out (you have to learn the distance/timing), and you know they will have to sweetspot the edge, you can grab the edge and edgehog them at the right time so your invincibility frames will protect you as they zip to the ledge. They will then fall to their death.
2) If they are going to return to the stage (you have to predict this, or mindgame it), you can punish them as they land. They will have lag, so you can smash them if you space it right. OR, (my favorite) you start up a tornado near the edge and let them fly right into it. This is great for some free damage, although it wont net you the KO.

I have played around with neutral air for a sideb counter, but have had mixed results. I think if you time it right, you might be able to out prioritize it, but if anyone else knows for sure, let me know.

I was gonna add more but my gf is getting impatient so ill add more later. gl with the thread.

Edgeguardig the side-b like this works against Falco & Fox, but do NOT try and intercept Wolf; there's a sweetspot right at the end that I've been KO'ed more than enough times to forget >.>

Same thing applies for the up-b, just a shorter startup.

ah, yes. thanks for correcting that. Wolf's return is actually a spike, right? Tornado interception combined with good edgehogging timing has been my best strategy against wolf.

I'd compare it more to Falcon's knee, but the idea is don't try and gimp it.
