The Dojo stated something obscure today about being able to defend against a recovery:

If recovering is a technique, then there must also be techniques to guard against recovery

Does this allude to Nintendo probably revealing more 'advanced' types of techniques while revealing their updates, or is this just me reading far to into this small thing?

Who knows, one thing may lead to another and simple advanced tactics may be hinted at, such as edge-hogging, teching, DI, and the like.

Your thoughts on this?

Theres already been posts about this. Sorry, but this was unneeded. It will have the same gameplay machanics as the previous additions. Sakurai stated that. Now use the search feature from now on.

Hey dude, regardless of whether or not this has been posted, it's posted now. Unless you have a thread delete key, we can't do anything about it. Therefore, your reply is more useless than his original thread.

Anyway, I've been thinking this whole time that Sakurai is hinting at Advanced techniques in the hopes that us veterans will catch them, hence the "edge-guarding" hint. I keep looking through past posts, trying to find anything else someone might have missed.

And as far as the Brawl having the same gameplay mechanics as previous editions, there's been nothing confirmed stating that it'll be exactly the same as Melee. Lord knows, Melee's gameplay mechanics are far off from the original Smash Bros 64. XD

I don't think Nintendo's gonna go into anything besides the basics, but there might be something new to edge guarding in Brawl.

QFT. :)

Edge Guarding would be in no matter what, as long as edges could still be grabbed on to.

But, It also somewhat confirms Meteor Smashes and Arial Kills.

Edge-guarding confirmed! RECOVERY confirmed!

This changes everything! Neither of these things were in ssb64 OR melee!
