Echo Fox Signs Mew2King

Echo Fox has entered the world of Smash, adding Melee God and all-around Smash specialist Jason "Mew2King" Zimmerman to their roster. Echo Fox boasts top teams in the NA LCS and the CS:GO ELeague, making a Smasher of Mew2King's caliber a great fit for the team. Here's what former NBA champion and Echo Fox team owner Rick Fox had to say in the official press release:

"Jason is the highest grossing player in Super Smash Brothers history but more importantly, he has been a pioneer and innovator in the sport exemplifying the commitment to excellence we look for in an Echo Fox athlete."

Excited to see Mew2King join Echo Fox? Send him some love on Twitter @MVG_Mew2King and watch him at his first tournament as an Echo Fox player at GOML 2016 this weekend.

Update: To clarify, Mew2King is no longer with COGnitive Gaming, but he is still part of Most Valuable Gaming.

So happy for Jason as he has been my idol in smash now lets just hope he can win his first tournament with echo fox this weekend. :)

So happy to hear this, one of my favorite players getting sponsored by my favorite organization! Let's go M2K:150::foxmelee:

Mew2king is gonna have so many sponsors he's gonna need two tags when he goes up to play on the interface. LOL M2K:4cloud2::marthmelee::sheikmelee::foxmelee:

Well a lot of things I never thought I'd see happen (this quick) all happened...

1.MVG no longer has any player sponsored that is anywhere near the top.

2. Mew2King no longer has multiple sponsors.

3. All of the 5 Melee Gods all have major sponsors (no offense to COG, which is bigger than people realize), and the next tier of players all also have major sponsors.

4. It sounds like Mew2King is finally getting mental and physical help needed to sustain a competitive career in a way that can help him. I don't think people realize the true struggle of competition. All these teams in the League of Legends LCS and atop the world of DOTA 2, CS:GO, StarCraft II, Call of Duty, etc have sports psychologists who work with them to get their mentality in check as well as other psychologists and nutritionists to help keep their life in order. They also have doctors and medical examiners who not only help them perform at peak efficiency, but make it to where they don't have nagging injuries.

This means that Mew2King's tournament mentality, physical issues with his hands, and really any sort of financial issues he have can be helped at via the expense of the team via professional help (because these organizations are big enough and caring enough to do that). That is wonderful to have, and I am pretty sure other top players have especially benefited from this (namely PPMD, which I think it may have saved his career). So yeah... Mew2King can go to the doctor, get his hand fixed, and easily get a regime setup for better hand care.

5. Rick Fox called Mew2King a God... the same Rick Fox I used to see play for the Los Angeles Lakers a lot and win multiple NBA Championships with them.

Esports in 2016 is really freaking weird man.

It is also freaking cool.

I should have put this in the article earlier, but M2K is still with MVG. Also, MVG's partnership with EMP ended quite a while ago.

Taylor Hicks, the winner of the most watched Season of American Idol, can wavedash, and entered Melee at EVO 2k13.

Life is Strange.

Really?

Now that's an interesting note... actually 2 interesting notes.

Actually, Dylan Sprouse (and his brother Cole) play Project M and Smash 4. I don't know if they play PM anymore, but before Smash 4 came out they were both very into it. Dylan definitely follows Melee though.

Christina Grimmie and Asa Butterfield also play Smash 4. Butterfield follows Melee. He's tweeted about the Smash Summit and #FreeLeffen.
