Ok guys, we all know that smash 4 will be playable in many places in America, either at e3 or best buy, we need to organize of whom is looking and finding out certain aspects of the game here. Once e3 comes all gameplay data should all be here, along with your impressions and findings of the game. So use a video camera or a smart phone to record it and upload it here. Afterwards since all the footage will be here, we can begin analyzing all of it, in which we will find out many aspects of the game.

I'm bringing a camera to record... Then I'll upload the video to my Youtube account and share it here.

If it's available at one of my local best buys, I'll be sure to post my general thoughts and then tidbits that other people may not have covered.

Not sure if I can but I'll see if I'm able to record it

Shall we have a channel to cover all footage?
That's actually not a bad idea, it can be a channel where it can all be put in, and when the game releases it can have tutorials, and high level matches, and character match-ups.

Everyone really just needs to get the best individual impressions they can. Without a chance to actually sit down and have dedicated study, we're not going to be able to easily delegate work like that, and it will be more about how much you can glean from your limited opportunities to play. I'll be doing "everything" but which I mean I'll get as many impressions as I can about as much of the game as I can, and I don't think there's really another possible strategy here since we very likely won't be able to control very much of what any one of us even sees.

I think the main thing people would want to see, if no extra characters are added in the demo, is the character select screen.

I'll make a concerted efort to record any matches I play. Maybe I'll wear a shirt with a breast pocket or something.

One thing to note is the icon size compared to the screen. If we can predict how many possible character slots are missing/could fit into that space, we might know roughly how many characters will be in Sm4sh.

But in Brawl, didn't the Character Icons get smaller as you unlocked more characters?

That's goddamn brilliant. Only problem is finding a way to record landscape rather than portrait that way...
Duct Tape?

I'd love to, but I don't have 3 hands. Any reccommendations?
Record someone else's matches. Get someone to do what you want them to do and record it.

What hinata said. It's better than playing the game with only one hand and recording with the other.

Plus, it's not like you can't hold it horizontally with one hand. I do it all the time.

Actually, come to think of it, can you just "watch" at the Best Buy or whatever? I am not sure if the line will be in the way, but I might actually just go to watch some game-play and try to figure stuff out as I am watching. At that point, there probably isn't going to be much new information though, we might actually learn more from the invitational.

The invitational... Yeah if they are pro players I'm sure they'll run through tech, hitstun etc. we'd learn a lot just by watching that.

Requesting a search for glitches! Even if they end up getting removed, I think glitches are so interesting and who knows? You might run into the next wavedash...or not

I actually did glitch hunt a game (paper mario TTYD), but I can tell you that to find glitches... well you either need to investigate the game (knows how it works normally to "test" it against the most improbable situations) or just an insane amount of luck. The former is of course the best way but for the latter, you need to play A LOT for it to happen and really for a session of 5-10 minutes, I doubt it will happen (except obvious ones like graphical bug but not game changing one I expect this game to be ready enough so that the chance it happens is slim).

I'll bring a camera to the event and I'll see if I can get a video of the crowd and the game.

Oh really? Please elaborate.
Gimpyfish, t!mmy, t0mmy, Neal, DSF, Lucky, MikeHaze, HugS, and many others including myself, attended the E For All event and found out multiple exploits in the game, such has Melee style Dash dancing, using the momentum of an aerial attack low to the ground to waveland (Mario, Fox, Samus, Sonic, Link = Bair, Pikachu = Diagonal quick attack into the ground / Platform), L-canceling, proper hitstun, charging smash attacks with the C-stick, Throws retaining Melee properties (Fox's D-this causing a tech chase and Peach's F-throw being a killing move), Crouch canceling. These specific things were removed from the game, but not entirely. If you do a bair low to the ground with Mario you will notice that he moves back slightly, but doesn't slide, but Peach can still slide with her down tilt and pulling turnips because we didn't discover it. Coincidence? Mario was also very good, capable of doing things like double sh bair, the first one hitting and the second one allowing him to waveland back and follow up with an up tilt to whatever aerial at high percents or jab to grab>d-throw> U smash at lower percents. Minus the Shine difficulty Fox was also very solid with his combos and ground game. Samus' super missiles knocked opponents strait up with a lot of stun, giving her some interesting set ups. Meta Knight was still pretty strong; his Drill Rush was his best move. There are many other things covered, and if you need reference, check these.

There are more too. But I'm planning on keeping what I know on the DL.

Ah okay. That makes a lot of sense, actually.

So, revising what I said before then, if there are glitches of interest, just PM them to me or something. Maybe create a private discussion between various group members. I assume the BR will talk about them, but I'd still love to see them discussed, albeit a non-public discussion

Sorry you give me a wall of text and I barely give you a paragraph, but I'm on my way out right now! Thank you so much for the info, though

It's cool man, no problem. But I think your idea of channeling information through appropriate outlets is necessary, and even though no one is bound by any form of confidentiality on this forum, or any other major video game outlet, information about the technical aspects of smash will undoubtably come through or from here first. Maybe someone should make a thread for designated members to deliver information or something.
