I didn't bother watching the PC conference, but I heard Killer Instinct is on PC, so that's good. I'm not big on KI but I'm glad that more people have the chance to try it out. There was little reason to keep it only on Xbox One since the game isn't really a system seller to be honest.

I found this image on the internet and I thought it summed up this year's E3 perfectly.

And for those of you who were disappointed in the Metroid announcement.

It was a bore, honestly. I think it ended up lasting three hours or something like that and I didn't bother to sit through all of it. Might as well just find the summary of it online somewhere, quicker and much easier to sit through that way. They talked about games we had already heard of and focused more on the development of it rather than what the game was about or what they plan on adding to it, so it didn't get me.

So, there was a Fatal Frame trailer. Nintendo just didn't show it.

Coming this Fall. Feel the hype, fellow horror enthusiasts.

Well, here we go:

New Halo, and Battlefield. ZZzzZZzz... Par for the course, people, par for the course.

Nintendo: Underwhelming. Everything they put out was pretty much old news, or in the case of the new Metroid game, negative. I'm rather meh on the Metroid. The Smash Brothers special held more sway and had bigger bombshells (for better or for worse). Everyone knew about the new Fire Emblem game and about the Fire Emblem SMT crossover. Nothing new. It's hard to wow your fans when everything you present is old news. It doesn't help when the thing you don't have as old news proceeds to piss off your fan base.

New Mass Effect. After Mass Effect 3, I think they're gambling on this one quite a bit. I don't know if Dragon Age Inquisition fixed the damage done by DA2 and ME3 or not, but I think this is dubious. Will it save the Mass Effect name? We'll have to wait and see. I know I've been soured on BioWare since ME3, and Dragon Age never really held my interest all that much to begin with (played Origins, never could beat Awakening and heard a lot of mixed stuff on DA2). I had never dropped a game so fast and so hard after that ME3 debacle. That all said, I COULD get this new Mass Effect if I hear enough good things about it.

FFVII remake. In my mind, the show stealer. Complete blindside. No one was expecting it. Especially considering in terms of Square, everyone was focused on FFXIV (which they had been showcasing for some time in the weeks/days leading up to the Expansion's release) and FFXV, which likewise has been showcased on and off for some time now. Add to that that the only thing from Square in terms of this FFVII remake has been the same for a good ten years now: "We want to focus on new titles." "We don't have the manpower." "We don't have the money." "We want to do it, but it's too big of an undertaking." They hadn't changed that speech in years. As early as last year that was the word. And here we are: FFVII remake. Here's to hoping it's as good or better than the original. We'll have to see. We'll just have to wait and see.

I think it was a bad mistake from Nintendo. I know they're concerned about showing games that are in the near future instead of ones far off. That'd certainly fine for normal Nintendo Directs. For E3 though, that's where your surprises come out to hype everyone out. Their reasoning for not showing Zelda was something along the lines of frustrating fans since it'd be too far off (which I disagree with). Next year should be better though with some possible new hardware showcasing from them. Was really hoping they'd being some big new game.

In my mind, their real showing for E3 was Smash Direct paired with Nintendo World Championships.

At the very least, they have a few nice games this year. Sort of yet sort of not surprised at no Devil's Third showing.
You shouldn't be too picky Nintendo. You really need to show or localize what you have.

Agreed. I found myself having more fun and getting more excited over these two things than I did watching their actual E3 event, which is kind of sad. I don't know, Nintendo has been on such a roll lately that a weak E3 doesn't hurt that much, I think. I'm sure we have Directs to look forward to in the future, but I do think that they should have had something bigger up their sleeve instead of just Super Mario Maker, which they were obviously focusing on more than they probably should have. But hey, big year for Mario so I can excuse it.

Only games that got me excited were Triforce Heroes & KH3. I'm glad Square Enix shown more gameplay for KH3 and it looks gorgeous.

Nintendo's E3 this year wasn't as bad as 2008's, but it was still very underwhelming. Too much Mario Maker & Amiibo talk.

I think all Nintendo needed to do was say 'abd there'll be more news later' a few times. We've already got rumours of paper Mario (the rumour was IS not alphdream), metroid (retro not next level), and a new 3d Mario (that was more a copy response avoiding the question of whether a new one would be announced this year with it won't be released this year, but I count it) to look forward to, if they just put a screen from these games after each spin-off it'd be fine... Same with animal crossing though Amiibo Festival could fit the bill for that one.

Even if they did announce those though they probably would've fallen behind Sony in general games media, so assuming they announce them soon with a 'we've listened to our fan's' they could get better momentum by loosing e3 like this.
