If both games don't come out until Holiday 2014, do you think we'll get a demo at e3 2014? Seeing more of the game in action would be interseting, especially the 3ds version. If newcomers are revealed during that time, they can be in the demo as well.

It's highly probable that this particular E3 they might have a lot to show.

New Smash Bros footage and gameplay, the new Zelda, other games and such.

If the game is truly in a solid state, a demo might actually happen. Last E3, they demoed EVERYTHING.

I would say the game would be in a solid state by E3 2014, so I'm predicting we see some type of footage to be shown.

I have always wanted to go to E3 so if I do end up going this year and they have a demo I would DIE of happiness.

It's too bad that even if there are E3 demos, they'll never be available at the Nintendo eShop. And to add insult to injury, not everyone has the luxury of going to a major gaming event.

Even if it did, it still be limited (at least for us 3DS users.) in terms of many times you can play.

They could just do it like they did for the 2013 E3 demos and partner with Best Buy and other major retailers. I'd be surprised if they didn't do it again, as it was very successful.

It could happen as I bet SSB4 is in a bit of a more playable state.

And this. I hate this.
I can't go to E3 where there are all sorts of demos. I wish that I can get these demos off the eShop and play them. That should be done.

All I hope is that it comes my local Best Buy this time. (If they do it again)

If they don't do it (which would be nice and convenient), I hope they partner up at Best Buy again.

Considering how there were demos 2 months before Brawl's supposed release date at E for All I think it's a likely possibility. Sonic was playable in those demos btw, and he had just been announced, so if there are any E3 newcomer announcements they are likely to be in those demos.

Also, Best Buy would be better than nothing. Demos for games are an extreme luxuary if you ask me, and a game like Smash Bros wouldn't need to convince anyone but the few Melee elitists anyways. I'd much rather save all impressions for the initial release anyways.

I'm not going to waste my time with doing that again. The Best Buy partnership is severely flawed.
I didn't participate in the first one, was it really that bad???

In any case, all the more reasons to just put up a eShop version, cut out the middle man and get right to the consumers

the worst part was waiting in line for another turn imo. It was pretty cool, but a smash demo would probably draw a crowd, that's what the rep said, anyway.

The Best Buy in my city didn't do the NIntendo demo so I never got to try Mario Kart 8 : (

Hopefully they just put the demos on the E-Shop. Just release them a couple weeks later we'll be fine.

I fail to see why they wouldn't. I am positive that we will be seeing more game-play soon. I don't even know if we will have to wait for E3 to be honest.

We're definitely going to have gameplay for E3, probably even before.
Seen how this game is 99% coming within 11/12 months as the worst case scenario, I except we're going to get the same amount of info we got till now for maybe three/four months more. Around May I expect a huge info breakdown for the game, with important magazines like Famitsu starting to get early betas and **** like that. We'll also have the FIRST information about the game modes. Because, you know, we know basically NOTHING about the game except the main multiplayer mode.
They're going to build so much hype this summer many of us will lost their sleep I bet.

I think the problem was that they didn't properly anticipate it. The Best Buy that I was originally going to go to cancelled because they didn't think it would have a high enough turnout. As a result, I ended up having to go to Tempe (as did a whole lot of other people in Arizona) to find massive lines. They were scheduling people into timeslots so they didn't have to wait around for hours and they ran out of time for Wednesday night and were scheduling people for Saturday already.

I still think of it as a memorable experience. I got a Luigi hat, a whole ton of StreetPasses, I got to play 3D World for a little bit, and my 13 month old nephew played Tropical Freeze (sort of) and had his picture sent to Reggie. I just hope that Nintendo makes the proper adjustments for the next time. More locations and more days would allow things to go more smoothly.

No doubt in my mind.

I highly speculate that this coming E3 will put emphasis on character customization and the connection between the two games, whilst having a demo free for all time match with a limited roster available.

A demo via e-shop would be great they could get feedback on the online and game. But one can dream I would love a demo i'm kinda scared to buy another smash bros game blindly after brawl.

The way they treated EVO this year? Nope.
The way they allowed it to carry on mere hours after nearly pulling it?

They clearly saw the massive fan reaction and Melee's strong performance. I think they see the potential. Plus Mega Man in an EVO Smash demo? Do you know the meaning of hype?

Meh? Maybe they did, but every time I think Nintendo has learned something, well... let us just say I am usually wrong.

I wish they released more demos to the public.
I still have a Gamecube demo disc with 5 of them.
Viewtiful Joe and Billy Hatcher were incredible.
Then there was that Sonic one where I was fishing with that fat ass cat.

I really wish they would release the demos for Tropical Freeze and Mario Kart from E3 on the eshop, and then eventually a VERY LIMITED Smash one.

Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, Pit, Wii Fit Trainer and Villager
Smashville, Boxing Ring and Battlefield as stages
Very few items

This way you can get a feel for how different the game is with the classic characters, and then mess around with two of the new ones

I would be so god damn happy

The only way i could see this backfiring is certain people getting mad that other people get to "practice" with their mains before the game comes out, and everyone maining fox at the first tournament (by fox i mean whoever's the highest tier in the demo)

Well they should shut the hell up and buy a Wii U!
They're going to need one anyways!

Why did they want to stop it in the first place?
If I remember correctly, it wasn't Nintendo themselves, or rather, it was their lawyers (whom are an independent group) looking to act in Nintendo's stead regarding their licensed material.

The higher-ups at Nintendo caught wind and pretty much undid all the damage.

The same exact thing happened with Nintendo stopping YouTube LPers from making money on Nintendo games.

This was the info I gathered, anyway.

What i mean is that some people would think that the people who main characters in the demo will have an unfair advantage over people who need to get the full game to play their main.

Hopefully you work in the media business or know someone that does.

As for the demo, no question about it. We will be getting a demo this E3.

Not sure if they will do what they did last year and have E3 Demo units in stores across NA, hopefully though.

There's gonna be some kind of demo, probably a public one . The official E3 has never had a Smash Demo. These days it's just not Nintendo's MO.

However, if there is an E3 demo I will definitely go. I'll report as much as humanly possible with some footage if the reps aren't being narcs.

Seeing an actual match(probably a timed match) will be nice to see. Like I somewhat stated before, I'm more interested in the 3ds version.

With my experience going to the Best Buy E3 event with my friends, everything was pretty well managed with only a few staff members, if stringent. And there were only 3 locations in the entirety of Massachusetts, which can be divided by district with no crowd problems. Some of the claims in this thread do show that Nintendo needs to make future demo reels more manageable. Tempe just sounds tight. :/

The footage we've seen of the game looks solid already. I really hope we see some demo matches on the E3 2014 showfloor like they did with Brawl at some other gaming conference.

I'll have to get back to you on the eShop demo/beta.
