Essentially the Dunning-Kruger effect is that an unskilled person will overestimate their ability because they don't realize their limitations also, a skilled person will tend to underestimate their ability because they think things that are easy for them are easy for everyone.
This defiantly applies to my smash experience, the unskilled part anyway. I started playing braw super casually, I was awful but thought I was amazing. The more i learned about the game the more i realized how much i didn't know. I have played a lot of smash 4 since it came out and i have a good understanding of the game. I am a million times better than i was when i first started but smash is a very complex game and i know that i still have a long way to go. I feel that just learning that you are bad at the game is the first step to not being bad anymore.
