DreamHack Austin 2017 Announces Smash Included in Games Roster

DreamHack have officially announced part of the games roster for next April 30th event in Austin, TX and will be including a Super Smash Bros. title with Super Smash Bros. Melee being most likely. The announcement, found here, states Smash will be one of three popular events returning after this year's event, which was the first DreamHack event in North America. Previously, the event garnered over 400 entrants for Melee alone and saw Joseph "C9 Mango" Marquez break his losing streak at majors and against Juan "Liquid Hungrybox" Debiedma.

Austin is not the only DreamHack event planned in North America in 2017 with events also occurring in Denver and Atlanta. Expect that, barring scheduling conflicts with other majors, wherever DreamHack Smash goes, top players and large crowds will follow.

No word yet on whether DreamHack intends to expand their Smash operations to include other titles from the series but today's announcement does include the return of current fighting game community kingpin Street Fighter V.

Went to the last one back in May. ****ing loved it, lot's of things to check out besides Smash. And it's at the ACC downtown so you got some nice bars and restaurants within the block. Looking forward to competing at the next DreamHack ATX!
