I was playing a 3 stock with my older brother earlier today. He was Snake and I was Marth. He was just off the edge and did Up-B twice in a row, one after another. I have it saved to my Wii and was wondering if anyone could help me get this onto Youtube.

Are you sure that he didnt grab the ledge, hit himself with a granade/C4 or that you did not attack him?
Anyway, there's no way to send the video from your wii to your pc, but you can film your screen with a camera and post the video.

I'd rather have the video in higher quality so that everything is clear. Somebody that has video capture equipment please add this guy and have him send you the file so it may be recorded.

It seems like something hit the cypher after the initial up-b then it let him do another one

I think that the cypher explodes because you cant have 2 of the same snake on screen at the same time. He airdodges really close to the ledge, maybe we grabbed it, pressed down really quick trying to fast fall and didnt noticed that he grabbed the ledge and pressed air dodge? Or maybe marth's attack nicked him. You know, when you are in the range's limit of an attack... but that wouldnt make sense either, because snake does not gain his up-b back if he is hit by a weak attack while on the cypher

Thats what I thought when it happened but I wasn't sure so I saved it. Snake is completely alone and does Up-B twice

That first cypher detonated because a new cypher was activated by Snake. Since there can only be one cypher on screen per Snake, if you use a cypher, let go, land, and activate a new Cypher before the old one leaves the play-field, the first one blows up in a minor explosion. And the only way to activate a new cypher as far as we know, is to take damage after you have left the cypher, and as is clear in that video, that Marth was nowhere near Snake when he got off that first cypher. Marth did not give Snake that new cypher. Either this is a glitch in the game, or... a loophole... thing... that allows...

Yeah, it's a glitch.

We must study this video to find out how this happened. Then recreate it. FOR SCIENCE!

Now that I can see a better quality version, it almost looks like Marth kind of performs a small footstool jump o Snake while while he's on the cypher. Someone check if you can footstool jump Snake on his cypher real quick.

I just did this myself! all you have to do is jump on the cypher! I still need to try it with other characters. You don't even need to direct the joystick. Just jump. You can use any character to jump on Snake. You can even do the use the cypher multiple times, not just once. You just need to have the person jump on you after each cypher.

...Then in that case, it's probably not going to be that useful, seeing as those kinds of chances come rarely during games (unless the person you are facing sucks). I could see some potential for it in team battles as to allow one character to help Snake get back without adding to his damage percentage, but there's the issue of aiming the jump onto Snake, and then there's the issue of recovering.

All in all, I see it as a technique with a bit too much risk but not enough rewards to compensate for it. Stick to bomb recovery.

If thats the case, wouldnt Snake have let go of the cypher earlier if Marth did jump on it? @_@ According to the video, it looks like it went up for a few seconds or something.

Unless, thats what truly happens.

When someone jumps on the cypher, and, when Snake releases the cypher...the cypher will fly up for about a second and then it will explode. You can press Up+B again at anytime after Snake lets go of the first one to get a new cypher.

I did a few tests with snake and had someone footstool me while I was doing the up-b. If you footstool them anytime while one the cypher then they get another free one.

aww another close discovery on making snake even more broken. good find :]
This isn't really all that useful. Maye against beginner players who use footstool jumps to help space their aerials, yeah. But don't expect this to save you in a real match.

Good Marths don't need to footstool jump to space their aerials. The already know how to hit you.

Marth footstooled snake during the super-armour frames of his up+B, giving him no knock back from the footstool, and also giving him his up+B back.

I sure hope someone figured that out already :\

Yeah he foostooled him. I didn't know that you could use Snake's UpB after being footstooled. Anyways, it's not unusual.

The same thing happened to me. I was at Lylat cruise, my bro was Toon Link. I was trying to figure out what happened so i kept rewatching my replay vid. I couldn't figure it out so i went onto Smashboards and luckily enough i found this thread. I'm going to rewatch my replay again and compare it with what everyone is saying about the footstools.
