OK it seems as though I've hit a roadblock in my solo practicing. Just about all advanced techs are nailed down but for whatever reason I can't SHDF into combos. I can do it fine but I'm having trouble linking to another move. I always C-stick the 2nd fair so that's no problem. Is there something I'm missing? Is there a good way to practice this?

It's so frustrating not to be able to do that when I can do everything else fine. Wavedash, SHFFL, Ken combo, etc is all cake now. There's gotta be a good way to work on this alone. Can anyone help me out there?

Im starting to learn to follow it up with grabs weather my oppenent shields or not.(low %) The 2nd fair usualy slightly lifts em up to keep em from rollin/spotdodge but just in place for a grab.. or wavedash>grab If i properly spaced. If I dont do that then I just go with w/e. Though I dont Double Fair often so I cant say much..

- As for praticing I suggest just fightin Lvl1 Cp's and just try to utilize and link it as much as you can. Just well.. pratice it, loll.

If you can ken combo then I dont actually understand what your having troubles with. A good tip is to alternate between tipping and not tipped, becuase the tips knock them up and the softspot lets them float down, so if you repeat between certain damages and depending on character weight and DI you can keep the pretty much in the same spot as far as heigh goes until you want to spike them or fair them off the stage for edgeguarding.

I think I know what it is. The irony of players who just get the hang of l-canceling, either aren't doing it (not saying you) or are doing, but they just aren't following it up. You might be use to lag time after an attack, you just aren't use to attacking right after an aerial. It takes time to gete use to playing with no lag, no biggy. Feels good though, huh?

P.S. Don't call it SHDF...call is SHFFL Fairs. Lets people know for fact you l-cancel. ;)

L canceling is no problem. I just think I'm choosing the wrong follow up move or not spacing the aerials correctly enough yet to allow for follow up. Just need to work on it.

Well when u SHDF you really have to pay attention to who ur fighting and what he is doing in response to ur SHDF approach. for example, if u approach him with it and land the first fair but he shields it, slide out cause u will most likely grab you. how ever if u land it you can either
A. Do another SHDF if his DI goes the way u want
B. grab
C. NAIR > whatever else u want
D. Back off and get ready for something else

there are more ways to approach people following it u really just need to figure out whats a better decision at the time after and even before u SHDF. even if u just Fair once. so just practice it and try new approaches with it. you should be fine

Most anything you can do after a SHDF is a judgement call. If you're trying to go for the kill, the Ken Combo works just fine. If you want to juggle some more, utilts or another SH fair --> uair works as well. Or you can use the nair to push. You need to have a goal in mind once you get a combo going and act accordingly.
