It doesn't even deserve 3/4th the hate it gets.

So yeah, DK: Barrel Blast. Another good, but highly underrated, cartoony racing game.

It's fast (seriously, when you get to Pro. It's fast)

It actually takes a decent amount of skill to play.

The characters are quirky.

The only flaw I've notice is that the many courses have the same background. I hate the fact that it got overshadowed by Mario Kart and hated by reviewers because it wasn't a platformer. I swear they haven't the game for more than 5 minutes.

So if you hate it and by I mean:
1)NOT Just repeating the same dribble 'professional' reviewers has said
2) Play past rookie mode and still hated it

I'll debate with you.

Otherwise, if you have opinions, need help, or even give advice. Come on in.

Everyone wanted a platformer, not a Drum-mobile.

That's why I haven't played it.

@Drifter: LOL Jungle Beat was more of a Drum mobile than Barrel Blast and that was a platformer.
And you're missing out because it's a good game.

@Mith: I've seen that review and was disgusted by it. Doesn't the reviewer knows that if you use the bongoes, it would have been worse? Sure, left bongo go left, right bongo go right, both to jump. But what about using items, attacks, and wild moves? And as I said earlier, the fact that he thinks the game is slow means he didn't play past Rookie. And the irony is that if the game was faster on Rookie, I'm sure he would have complained how that would have turned off casuals.

And don't get me started on how DK looks like he did in DKC. Does that even make since? Mario looked the same as he did since the first Super Mario Bros.

Gasp!

Where was I when said thread was created? I'm late!

Anyway, Barrel Blast is actually a pretty good game, like GK said, it takes a decent amount of skill to play, it's whacky, and downright fun.

However, I was, like many others, disapointed that it was NOT a true to form DK platformer, although at this point I've lost my faith in Nintendo about such a thing.

If you haven't tried BB yet, give it a try, if you're a DK fan that was avoiding it, give it a shot, it has all the classic characters in it (Except Kiddy...**** Nintendo...well, and Chunky)

and the locales are very nice as well, so don't judge it too quickly.

Nah, I'm sure the New play Control Pikmin will not get flamed for the controls unless thier bad. Cause:

1) only PAON made DK games seem to get this unnecessary hate from both reviewers and idiot gamers.
2) Pikmin was made by Miyamoto. And everyone always suck up to that guy.

Hell, I guarantee that the DK: Jungle Beat remake will not get bashed for controls when they're the exact same in Barrel Blast.

Anyway, in Barrel Blast, I use DK, Diddy, Kalypso, Cranky, K.Rool. And my favorite stages are Alpine Peak, DK Jungle, Mt. Dynamite, and the space course who's name escape me for the moment.

Actually, I was pointing out how the reviewer in tha vid. dislikes how late gamecube era games are instead being made for the wii by nintendo itself (as opposed to a 3rd party with lesser quality concerns) with motion controls tacked on. He must be furious that a gamecube launch title like Pikmin is being made by Nintendo itself for the wii with motion controls tacked on, not matter how well Nintendo does it.

How many companies can get away with reselling a game that is eight years old by saying "look! New controls!" without getting brutally criticized?
