It turns on, the past few updates, (the updates that corresponse after the Dojo went on a one week hiatus) their pictures were made in 2nd to 3rd week of December.
It turns out, all the pictures used on the updates still keep their original JPG file tags.
Take for example: http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/characters/images/pikmin/pikmin_080109a-l.jpg
The JPG tags for this image show:
Orientation of image: 1
File change date and time: 2007:12:11 02:25:21
Software used: Adobe Photoshop CS2 Windows
Check the date and time. This is the January 11th update, when Olimar was announced. The JPG file was last modified an entire month before it was posted on the Dojo.
What does this mean? It means the hiatus was pretty bogus. They could have kept updating the Dojo and really didn't. They had pictures ready and all. They probably have the whole Dojo planned out until launch. The week off was probably because they finish the game (went gold) and took a break from the office since the game was finished.
This could also be a new team posting the update. Maybe they went gold and that's it, went home. There's a new group of people doing the updates and they're more careless than the original and leave the JPG tags on the pictures. The original team left them a list of all the updates until the end of January. I think that's the most probable thing. Brawl? Gold and done, no delays. At least, that's what I think.
So there you go, I'll leave you guys to further speculation.
