Would you like to see Voice Chat implemented in Smash Wii U or does it not matter to you?

I personally would love to have Voice Chat (and have it usable IN GAME). Online gaming in general just feels empty without voices. Yeah yeah, once you get past the crude 12 year olds, there's actually some really cool people you can meet online and I've made many friends from my time on Xbox Live from just being able to chat like that.

What about you guys? Does any of this matter to you?

Not much since Skype is a good alternative if the Wii U version doesn't have voice chatting.
Yes I suppose that's a good alternative. Sadly, my setup doesn't have a computer nearby where my gaming systems are.

Not really. I don't think I'm gonna play online as much considering I play smash with friends every weekend.

If I do play someone online and need to talk to them, I'll just use skype, as mentioned.

I think Voice Chat should be available for those who want to use it, even though I personally wouldn't. The game is Super Smash Bros., not Super Sh*t-Talk Bros.

With random players online I would say no or at least give an option for it. With friends I believe their should be, when I played mario kart I was happy to be able to hear my friends, then however it would cut off while in game which was disappointing, I was still happy we could talk in between games though. Even though skype is an easy option, it is still preferred to have everything running on the one system, seeing as the game pad has a mic.

With friends sure! I enjoyed doing that with MK8 in between matches (though throughout the whole race would be cool too.)
With strangers I don't know... I like the idea but with the amount of people that would abuse it the whole idea doesn't seem too likely. If they are able to make it work or give the option to turn it off then sure.

That's probably why there's no native voice chat. Especially after the Swapnote incident.
'Swapnote incident'?

The Swapnote app on the 3DS was shut down because of child predators abusing the service.
Ah. I always wondered why it shutdown long ago but never bothered to look it up. Thanks.
(Why would somebody do that though -.-)

It would certainly be a convenient feature. There really is no excuse not to have the option when playing with friends.

I use FaceTime Audio with my pal, just with my Apple EarPods plugged into my iPhone, it works a treat!

Well, since the only options are yes or no, I'll go with Yes.

But really, most of my play will be with my friends either in person or when we're near our computers, and for that we'll just use Mumble (Skype sucks). So, while it would be nice, I have an alternative that is probably better anyway, so I won't miss it if it's absent.

You can set up skype on your phone. Might depend on what kind you have. Or if you have a cell phone I suppose.

I have anybody who I'd want to talk to on Skype, never really both with in game voice chat systems for that reason. So no, not really, but I feel the option should be included but just be disablable for people who don't want to bother.

It doesn't matter to me since I would mainly be playing with friends. Those friends having people with skype.

With that said, it probably should be implemented for convenience of others.

If it had voicechat, I'd probably turn it off by default. It just gets really annoying and most times I've used it in any game, the quality is ass. If I needed to do the thing, I'd probably use skype or just freaking call the person

With Friends? Definitely.

With Anyone? God forbid.

I'm already fearing the amount of hate through Miiverse because online gameplay shows your NNID so how about no.

I only care if it's with my friends. I've played more than enough Halo 3 and Cod4 on Xbox Live to know that random voice chat is pretty terrible, especially if there's no option to mute players.

I would really enjoy it.
I always love talking about Smash with people, and it'd be really cool to share information about matchups and strategies.
Not to mention it'd make learning from others easier, but I can also see how it could be a bad thing with raging and whatnot.

There'll always be a downside, but I think the potential for good is more than enough to make me want it.

I wouldn't say it matters (Skype/ooVoo hollah!). But it would be a nice thing to have.

I mean, MK8 was a start. But it was disappointing on how it was only usable in friend-hosted games. Hell, my friends completely ignored it when it was available.

Knowing how Nintendo handles online, I can see this only being possible for friend-hosted games. I just wish they would stop being so stiff and just give players an option to toggle it on or off and to have the option to mute it completely. Besides, voice chat really helps garner social connections with people you play with and having a void of communication (or being relegated to Miiverse's unreliable PM system) makes coordinating games and activity all the harder.

I can't see this being done for random people, but if it is, I hope there'd be an option to shut it off. I'm not overly interested in hearing what 8 ~ 12 year-old kids have to say...

Between friends though, would be amazing. I'm not expecting much however.

Not for me; There's not much of an exhange to be had with random opponents, most of whom will probably be children anyway.

However, voice chat is a standard and expected feature of online games so to not even give the option would be a real let-down.

So the general consensus seems to be "Skype or Bust". To be honest, I rarely use it now but I'll try to get back into it if that's what all of y'all are doing.

I'm only gonna need to talk to two sets of people... fam and friends I'm playing locally and fam and friends I'm playing online... when online I'll just make a skype group chat with them.

I voted nay. Reasons?

-I only talk to my friends when I play multiplayer games
-Me and my friends have Skype
-Skype has x1,000,000 better sound quality versus console "voice chat"
-I prefer not to hear 12 year old's using 'naughty' words towards me while their parents are away

For sure, they should include it as a feature toggle-able during With Friends.

With Randoms, Nintendo could make it so that: With VC on, the player can talk and hear the others talk (with the ability to mute certain people). With VC off, voices are mute completely. Kind of like MH3U. :)

Sounds like a plan. Though it might be giving Nintendo too much credit. Hopefully Namco has some input in voice chat though.

I'm practically always in a call on Skype, but I wouldn't mind having in-game voice chat to maybe try socializing with some player I meet in random online matches.
A part of me wished I could do that back in my Taunt Partying days of Brawl.
Though of course if it happens there should definitely be a mute option in case of players appearing on the more obnoxious side.

I really don't care about voice chat. I find Halo Kiddies and 40 year old scrubs annoying.
