Does the F.L.U.D.D. imply the Poltergust 3000?

In SSBM Luigi had the same Down B as Mario. It only makes sense to me that it would be replaced as well, and the only thing that fits the bill is the Poltergust 3000.

I'm sure you all agree... don't you?

Maybe; what does the Poltergust 3000 do attack-wise anyway? From what little I played of Luigi's Mansion it seems to be a ghost oriented vacuum cleaner.

makes sense, but I hope they don't do that. although it is highly possible, and would make him more different from Mario, I think that they could give him a better Down B, and make the Poltergust an item. (which is what I think they should have done with FLUDD). that being said, as long as Luigi has the thunder powers from superstar saga, and he's 100% different from Mario, I really don't care what moves he has; but if he does have the Poltergust as a down B, there a much greater chance that I wont use him.

Hopefully with this vacuum that you are able to use fire and ice elements, but if Sakurai doesn't give it to em thats fine too. I just want Lu to perform like how he did on Smash 64.

Oh.....how I miss that Luigi, for he was God Tier........in my hands.....

Do I want it to happen? No

Can I see it happening? Yes

I loved the loony SSBM Luigi...but he probably will be altered somehow.

FLUDD and the poltergust could make appearances. It helps further differentiate Luigi from Mario. Of course, this also relates to Bowser Jr, whos magical paintbrush is made by the same scientist as FLUDD.

I imagine Luigi will be the same as he is in Melee. Howver, his Down B WON'T be the tornado. Of course, I don't know that for sure, but after what we know about Mario, anybody who says that it will be has got to be an idiot.

My personal view is that his Down B SHOULD be the Vacuum, as it's his trademark item from the same generation of games as Mario Sunshine. Other than that, his other 3 moves should remain the same. His Up B and Neutral B are slightly diffent from Mario's anyway.

I also believe it will be a non-damaing suck.
I would like Luigi to have SOME electrical powers. Not too many.

And frankly, he doesn't need an overhaul from Mario.
He plays like Mario in THEIR OWN GAMES.
He should in this one too.

Visiting from above.
Luigi used electricity in ONE game, to my knowledge (Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (not even in the sequel to that very game, Partners in Time!)). He uses fire in every other game. It shouldn't switch for Smash.

I do think it's pretty likely that Luigi will gain the Poltergust and it'll perform oppositely from FLUDD, in that it won't damage opponents at all but suck them in.

I have much higher hopes for the Poltergust 3000 now. I started gunning for the Poltergust and FLUDD back when Brawl was first announced, but quickly came to the conclusion that it just wouldn't happen. Now that Mario's been given FLUDD, I think it would be almost shameful not to give Luigi the Poltergust 3000 since it's so critical to Luigi as a character (represents Luigi's independence, in a way).

And thank you, thank you, THANK YOU, for calling it the Poltergust 3000. It bugs me when people say "Poltergeist" instead. The "gust" pun is not there to be ignored.

yeah, and it was awesome when he did.

we have enough fire already. giving Luigi electricity would make him more original in general, and not just different from Mario

also, to my knowledge, FLUDD was only used in one game too...

I love how Luigi acquiring the Poltergust 3000 had far more support than Mario acquiring F.L.U.D.D. partially because it would further differentiate the green plumber from his more famous brother.

Now, even if he DOES get the Poltergust, it will still be seen as a Luigified Mario attack. =/

I think Luigi's Poltergust 3000 should be able to suck up projectiles, then the next time he uses Down B he shoots whatever he sucked up back out. Also if you vac up items you automatically equip them.

Did we really need a new topic for this? This could have been discussed in the Luigi topic! :o

As for me, I'm making no assumptions. We'll have to wait and see.

So basically giving him G&W's old Down B...?

luigi won't be a clone because sakurai said there would'nt be any, so his moveset could be based on the poltergust 3000 which would suck but it could happen.

Luigi was never a clone to begin with, so it wouldn't matter.

I don't know why but he just seems like a clone to me but I'm a noob who only plays with his friends I can't even do advanced techniques yet somehow he still felt like a clone except for a few moves. I main ganondorf though so I shouldn't be talking about clones I guess.

the poltergeist could be like G&W's down B.

Also with the new hold or tap function of the game. Holding the button will absorbed projectiles or items O.O and Tapping the button may release whatever mixture there is. It may sound rigged but i can be a good idea somewhat

It'd be hilarious if he sucked in characters like the ghosts from the game. But I don't know how that'd work... How would they get out? o_o

Hah, oh, I giggle.

@ Andrew14j: They wouldn't. Luigi would just automatically win. Huzzah! Or it could be like Kirby's suction move, only it wouldn't copy their moves...it would just turn them into a wicked projectile (they should make Kirby's projectile spit go farther or do more damage or something...it would encourage people to use that aspect of his B move instead of ONLY copying other powers. Some of those powers don't even feel that useful...).

And Luigi was the original clone character in 64. They changed him up nicely for Melee, and I imagine he'll be even farther from Mario this time around.

What if instead of replacing the move, what if you can take the FLUDD out by pressing a button and putting it away the same way? Like a retractable weapon?

I would love for him to have the Poltergust 3000. Maybe he could suck the enemies towards him, lock them onto the vacuum, and then launch them off. I figure that'd be pretty useful... or just suck them in entirely and shoot them out ala Kirby.
