I want to see if anyone out there plays with inverted control options. I am the only one of my friends that does, it just works for me, and they think I'm crazy. Someone back me up!

I'm a Goldeneye child, so of course. I couldn't play "Normal" if my life depended on it. Down is up and up is down. Makes sense to me.

Invert is the way to go. Especially if it's a flying game. Without the inverted controls I'd be smashing into everything.

Yeah I think a flying game might be better off inverted. FPS though...I wouldn't think so. To be honest though, I mostly play FPS games on the PC, so I don't have too much of an opinion on console FPS.

Amen, brutha.

My friends all think i'm weird for using inverted controls haha

when i was going through goldeneye unfortunately my z-button was broken :( so i ended up learning one of the alternate styles where you shoot with A

ended up being pretty cool

Back in the good ol' N64 days, I used to use the "inverted" controls in games such as Goldeneye 007 and Perfect Dark 64 but nowadays, I use the "normal" control set up.

Yeah I've been inverted since I was a little kid. All of the PC Mechwarrior games were inverted by default, so I grew up playing that way, and never changed. That includes all FPS for consoles.

I used inverted controls as a kid, but I kinda stopped that when I went back to play fps'.

Even then, I don't play many FPS' now-a-days so it doesn't matter to me much. I would prefer up = up though, even though I grew up with inverted controls (goldeneye, turok 64, etc. etc.).

I play inverted. I'm not sure why, and I wish I didn't; it's always a pain in the *** pausing at the start of my turn to invert Y. The kane and lynch demo didn't even give me the option. Not that I was considering buying it, but it killed it even deader for me.

Does anyone else who inverts first person get confused when playing in third person with camera controls? In third person, neither invert nor uninvert feels totally right, and sometimes inverting x feels natural.

I've never played any game where you can invert horizontally, what games are these?

I have to invert even in 3rd person camera. I was just playing ResEvil 4 again, which inspired this thread, because I play that inverted too, and even though I have no problem with playing it that way, just thinking about it seemed weird to me.

Yes. In games like Kameo and Tomb Raider Legends I constantly played with the camera settings and could never get it to feel quite right. I've never tried inverting the x-axis, though I've seen the option in a lot of games in the last three years.

I can't think of any from the top of my head, but I know some have, and one of my games forces me to use this, which is annoying when you're trying to make jumps, and you spin the camera the wrong way and die.

I have problems with an inverted control scheme. I always have to remember Up is down and down is up (Sometimes it is helpful to have the controller face away from me, so it is more airplane like [pull is up, push is down]). When the game comes without an inverted control scheme, I am typically happier.

This, I too lived on Goldeneye as a child and haven't been able to kick the habit. 'Normal' just feels plain weird to me now. I was at a friends the other day and we started playing Left 4 Dead and I just couldn't do it on his setting it was so frustrating.

This again(Goldeneye raised us :))

However one thing that always stuck out for me was RE4. I tried putting it on Inverse Y axis and the second I did everything felt wrong. I cannot play that game inverted.

Ever since I started playing Halo I've always used the inverted control setting. It's easy to get used to and works better for me.

I lived on GoldenEye and PD and yet I hate the inverted control setup with a passion. Back then, you pressed buttons (Cs) to look up/down which is dissimilar to handling a joystick. I can somehow wrap my mind around having a button located at the top of a controller making me look down, but when I play with a joystick, it only makes sense that my head will turn to wherever my stick is pointing. Just like playing FPSes with a mouse.

Yeah that's the game that made me question my methods, but I still have to invert it for RE4.

I was pretty much raised on Goldeneye as well, but I always kept my Y-axis normal even on Goldeneye. If it was also possible I'd use the dual controller setup with normal Y-axis as well, that's my favorite way to play Goldeneye.
