Does anyone else have very strange methods for choosing a main?

I main Yoshi because he's my favorite video game character, period. That was the reason I picked him up in SSB and have continued through Brawl.

R.O.B., Diddy, and Olimar are secondaries for a lesser version of that same reason: I love them as characters. (R.O.B. is a bit different, but his economic history makes his character, in my eyes. Pretty cool stuff.)

I picked pikachu, because he was the only reason why I bought smash 64, so naturally, I'm the best with him.

I main Fox and Secondary Olimar because I loved their games and would play them again anytime. I guess this is strange? I main characters from games that I love O_o

lol nope they are my mains. lol. if i like something about a character i will main them

I mained Roy because I liked playing as him (still honored in my avy) , and now I play Ike because of the exact same reason.

In all seriousness, I main DK because he's been my favorite Nintendo character since the NES days.
