Do you think Brawl's delay is due to the following?

I think Brawl's delay is for it to avoid competing with Mario Galaxy, if you think about it, they probably don't want one of the two overshadow the other one, since Brawl's previous release date was very close to Galaxy's that comes out in Nov. 12th, I really doubt they have that much to actually do to Brawl at this point, don't you agree?

Yeah, is higly probably.

And they will use this extra time for pulling the last things and make the game a bit better.

I think the game is completed and can be sold... only i think they don't want their games to be "footed" one over another.

(Yeah, i don't know how it's sayed "pisados" in english)

That's what most people said.

If brawl were to be released near Super Mario Galaxy, Brawl would take nearly all Galaxy's sales. Of course, if they are separated, Super Mario Galaxy gets its time to raise it's sales. It could be for other reasons too. But, That extra 4 months gives the team more time to perfect brawl and what not.

In the long run, you'd will probably be glad brawl was released Feb 10th over Dec 3rd thanks to some added character or feature. Since Brawl is the most anticipated wii game of the year, it's going to have a mega load of sales.

I think Nintendo made an announcement about it not interfering with the holiday and I believe the interview is on 1 Up.
Well it some something like that. They interviewed one of them, and they stated sales is most highest during janurary-march, so they choose to launch it in feburary.

all in all, it's for more money.

Well that and the game isn't perfect yet.

Actually its only an extra 2 months and during that time I highly doubt that much could be accomplished besides some more bug testing. Of course its possible during that time they could add a character or two, but nothing game breaking.

I mostly agree that it was for marketing reasons.

Competing with Galaxy makes sense to me too, and as for perfecting the game, another aspect is setting up the WiFi server, which might take some time too.

Competeing for Galaxy's sales doesn't make sense. Both games will sell greatly and it would only add to Nintendo's sales.

Also, my hasting says its still available in their store on the 4th of Dec. =\ I believe the "delay" was supposed to kill off the hype and take some pressure off of Sakurai and his staff so they can focus on making the game the best it can be.

Well with Galaxy in November and Super Smash Bros. Brawl in December, and Wii's being sold out still... I'm expecting that both would be sold out pretty much every where.

It's mainly due to Sakurai finally not having to rush a Smash Bros title.

But secondarily, I do think it's about Mario&Sonic at the Olypmic Games. Sega likely just asked Nintendo to be nice and back the release date off a little bit, and since Sakurai wanted more time, they were happy to do so. M&S gets bigger Christmas sales due to the crossover factor, and Smash Bros gets more polish and more features, insuring better long-term sales. It's a win-win situation for Nintendo and Sega alike.

With them updating the dojo site daily it only cancels out the hype of the december release. Especially huge updates such as stage builder.

I also think the delay is merely for Super Mario Galaxy and Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games sales.

With Brawl being delayed, more people will buy Super Mario Galaxy or Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games. Then when Brawl comes out, new people who have played either of the 2 games will be all "Look theres Mario on the front! We should try this game" or something to that effect. Lol.

i think the main reason is that they want the game to be perfect and last, look at melee, the event mode look so rushed and there was alot that didnt get put into it, i think he is just trying to make sure brawl is absolutly perfect, and im sure it will be well worth the wait. They still have some work to be done, on the website it was clear that the stage builder was not yet finished as he said it may change. They could probabally release the game on Dec. 3rd but it would take away from some sales of galaxey, but now it will have so much more to the game, not to mention have a ton of replay value. Istill play melee. Brawl added a huge online, create a stage, more characters then before, more levels, co-op, and has re-made all of the previous modes to be better then before, plus added screen shots and film to the game. If melee could last 6 years, with all brawl has added i give it more then 10.

Will be well worth the wait!

Only 98 days and 50 minutes until brawl!

If you spell it out, this does have to do with a combination of things that go on. Melee and Halo 2 were both in the same ballpark practically. Halo 2 was being rushed in production when it came time for it to wind down. Halo 2 was a game that was so waited for and Microsoft running out of time. It did turn out to be a pretty good game overall, but still there were many many things left out from the game that was eventually put into Halo 3 when it came out. The same story applies to the Melee:Brawl crossover. Nintendo had little time to prepair a great, great Smash Brothers game. Sure things did turn out very well, but the same story applys there. For one, Hideo Kojima wanted Snake to be in SSBM before Brawl was even concieved of. Somehow Nintendo disagreed and even still left out some things they wanted to place in the game. The developers are making sure that they actually create the perfect Smash Brothers game that will last for many years. Personally, I don't blame them for extending the date really. I rather them have made the game perfect, rather than rushing and making the game 1/2 as fun. Quality is better than quantity. But still, I just hope that the extended date will make the game absolutely awesome, which I don't see why not. This will be the best Wii game yet.

If they moved the date to avoid competition with Galaxy or Olympic Games, why'd they put the date there to begin with? They're Nintendo. They knew the release dates of these games weeks if not months before we did. If it had anything to do with conflicting with Galaxy or Olympic Games, then I don't see why they would've announced Dec. 3rd in the first place. Although Brawl does seem pretty much done from our point of view, I'm sure the extra months are well needed. Fine tuning and minor add-ons.

Keep in mind, moving the date means missing out on the holiday rush. How much would Brawl really be competing with other Nintendo games here? Through the madness of the sales and the Christmas lists, all those games would have a good chance of getting purchased. I think it would take something a little more serious than preexisting self-competition to force Brawl to a release date not only after Christmas, but all the way into February.

Just my take on it.

Brawl was delayed to make improvements to Brawl. I don't know why people aren't satisfied with that.

Spacing the games' release dates makes sense, as Nintendo doesn't want to release too many good games all at once, especially during the holidays.

I don't think its due to competition. Nintendo is confident in itself to know they can release 2 hard hitting titles and both of them be sold due to the popularity to begin with. I could understand if one game was a lesser known title though. But both these games shine bright. You couldn't cast a shadow on a light bulb, know what I mean?

I think if they were going to delay a game to reduce competition it would have been Galaxy. Since the name Mario would seel itself regardless of season.

I say Brawl's delay is going to be used for polishing and fine tuning. There may also have been things that were scrapped that they now have time to tweak like game modes, stages, character moves, etc.

Everyone remember:
Delayed games usually mean they'll turn out better.
Look at OoT.
Delayed almost 2 years and it turned out to be a pretty fantastic game.

Ok, my guess is that
1. They don't want Galaxy to have competetion for the holiday sales.
2. In order to make many smash fans happy and add Sonic they needed to push back the game. Since Mario Sonic at the Olympics comes out after Brawl previously would have then SSBB would be the first game to feature Sonic and Mario in the same game. So since Sega is running the Olympic game, the agreed to put Sonic in the game if and only if they were the first ones to feature Sonic and Mario in the same game. So insted of making the Olympics game earlier they agreed on delaying SSBB far enough away so that people had the time to play the Olympics game. But SSBB got Sonic and Mario second but the game will be much bigger. So sega gets to feature sonic and mario first. But nintendo gets to have them second a couple months later in a much bigger game.
3. They needed to tweak some stuff. Like online and other various things.

Well, Brawl is a System Seller, and they will be out of systems to sell all of the holidays.
So they release it later.

R.M.B. were else?
1.brawl needed some fine tuneing(999% glitch)
2.another character was added, sonic was ready way before dec 3rd, so its not sonics fault.
3.sales competition, I cant aford galaxy, brawl, and mario cart all in one holiday season, so it makes sense to seperate the three.
4.give brawl a chance to be game of the year. halo 3 will probably be game of the year for 2007, and nintnedo knows it. so they decided to put brawl into 2008 and make it so it can be top of 2008's food chain. although I highly doubt thats the case.

"A delayed game is good eventually. A bad game is bad forever."

Thus, I'm glad Brawl was delayed. I'm not getting a Wii until Christmas anyway. Playing Brawl 20 minutes after the release > playing Brawl 20 days after the release.

Brawl > Galaxy. Brawl will own Galaxy, be it it 3 weeks or 3 months after its [Galaxy's] release.

while it is disheartening to think that brawl could be less than a month away, it is probably is for the better. i hope sakurai tells us exactly what they did with the extra 2 months so we can put this arguement to rest, and say the delay was brought fourth for the better of the game.

If this is true, it's a modest and valiant decision on Mr. Sakurai's part. I have to say, this isn't the Cold War. Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl are part of the same team. They shouldn't be looked at as battling each other, they should be focused for battling Playstation 3 and Xbox 360's top titles such as Halo 3.

My Ideas.

1.)They already have had games for each season, zelda at the beginning, metroid prime 3 middle this year and Mario Galaxy for Holiday. They are saving for more sales.

2.) Fix Wi-Fi Competition

3.) Just straight up make it hella better.

If the reason is b/c of the MG release, then they wouldn't have chosen February 10th. Mario Kart Wii comes out at the beginning of next year and I'm looking forward to see how things turn out. Since my B-Day is in January it's going to be a hard decision of which to get, but I know I'll end up with both of them anyway.

They want to get to the borderline, know what I mean?
They want to delay it as much as they can, but still keep all the hype.
