Do you find it easier to set grab to a shoulder button or face button?

Smasboards suck
I started out using X as my grab button, then went to using a shoulder button, back to x. They both work for me, but I'm trying to settle on which one I want to use primarily. Which do you guys find is best for you?

Either is fine for me, just so long as it's not like the wii mote setup. I tend to prefer shoulder though if I'm using grabs a lot.

It kind of depends on the specific controller I guess, but in general I prefer setting it to shoulders.

I've actually started to mess around with this a lot in Brawl lately as a way to get used to what I'll have to do on the 3DS. Since the face button layout of the Classic Pro and 3DS are pretty similar, I've tried doing a few "only 2 shoulder buttons" control setups and so far... I HATE having grab on a shoulder when I only have two to pick from. Right now what works best for me is all shoulders set to shield and either x or y set to grab.

Well, for the GCC I have grab set to a face button, X, but that's really only because I have Z set to attack.

Not sure how I am going to do 3DS yet though, it's all going to depend on whether the game supports CPP.

Only the classic models support that no? Or have I been misinformed? I've been considering picking one up for this upon confirmation of support, but I don't know if I'd realistically benefit THAT much from it. Second stick is really one of the lesser things keeping me from taking this version as competitively seriously as the Wii U.

On the 3ds I'll probably map my grab to x.

I actually deliberately keep Z as my grab button because I don't like the Z button's placement on the GCN controller. I originally set it to X too, but found myself trying to grab too much and becoming incredibly predictable. So I put it back onto Z just to restrict myself.

Also I like the idea of just using default controls so I can play Smash 4, PM, Brawl, and Melee without screwing up my inputs.

I have always used Z to grab, but I honestly shield grab (R + A) way more often. I very rarely do running grabs because of how easy it is to whiff them and get punished because of the recovery on a grab whiff.

Depending on how tired I am, It will sometimes take a while for me to grab with Z. So I go with the face.

What is the preferred setup among pro players? I just switched from the Wii Pad to Gamecube controller and I'm trying to work my head around the shoulder buttons, z-button, grabbing and shielding. What is the most common button for shielding, left or right shoulder button? Do most people use Z for grabbing?
