Of course, we all know that Music is partially the reason SSBM was so great, what with its remixes of Zelda 2, the Metroid series, F-Zero, and several other prime Nintendo franchises. But what new musical tracks would you like to see in Brawl, remixed or otherwise? Well, I can't answer for you, but I can answer for me. Better yet. I'll include samples so you yourself can HEAR what I'm talking about, rather than just listening to me babble.

I have 10 choices and will be rating them, starting ith 10, and ending with 1 (obviously.) PLEASE read and/or listen to anything you like or do not know.

I will list the potential stage name, character, track, and game along with a description and link.

FINAL UPDATE: I have good news and bad news.

The good news is the links work properly and should remain that way. The only problem is you're going to arrive at Galbadia hotel on the page of the song I have listed. Simply click where it says "begin dowloading" and it will open up in your prefered music player.

Problem solved.

10. Sauria: Krystal: Sauria: SF Assault

This is probably my second favorite song in the SF series, and for good reason. It'd be perfect for a Saurian stage which would allow elements of Starfox Adventures and Star Fox Assault to be used in the game. Plus, it would encourage Krystal to use her "classic" staff wielding look. Perfect for Brawl, and catchy to boot, this track could easily be remixed or used right out of the box.

http://gh.ffshrine.org/song/1562/29

9. Any Earthbound stage: Ness: Sanctuary Battle: Earthbound

The definitive Boss battle from the Earthbound series. Only select bosses like the Titanic Ant, Mondo Mole, and Carbon Dog could fight with it, and its dark theme reminds you that Earthbound isn't always such a happy go lucky game. Could be used with any Earthbound stage.

http://gh.ffshrine.org/song/5751/35

8. Tal Tal Mountain Range: Link: Mt. Tamaranch: Link's Awakening

A very adventurous song despite its gameboy roots. This song has been remixed several times on ocremix.com and with good reason. Remixed by Uematsu, this song could possibly be the most remembered and beloved in the game. It'll certaintly get your adrenaline going.

http://gh.ffshrine.org/song/681/68

7. Any random forest: Wario: Escape from the Woods: Wario Land II

It's disputable what Wario's theme song is, but if he did have one, this would be it in my opinion. It sounds very sneaky and devious, just like Wario, and like Link's awakening, being on the gameboy, it could easily be remixed by Uematsu.

http://gh.ffshrine.org/song/958/12

6. Any Castlevania Stage: Simon Belmont: Bloody Tears: (Orig.) Castlevania II/ Haunted Castle

If you've ever played a Castlevania game, then you've probably heard bloody tears. Though Vampire Killer or Simon's theme could probably push this track out of the way if Simon Belmont is indeed put in Brawl, I've always liked Bloody Tears better. It's been remixed countless times, but never too much. Can't do much with perfection.

http://gh.ffshrine.org/song/3040/3

5. Hyrule Castle: Link: Great Palace: Zelda II

Another Zelda track? With the success the Palace theme saw in Melee, there's no reason this couldn't be in Brawl as well. The Great Palace from Zelda II had music just as Epic as the other palaces, and some could say it's even better. Given the same treatment the Palace music recieved in Melee, there's no doubt this would be a great track.

http://gh.ffshrine.org/song/1061/13

4. Forest: Geno: Forest Maze: Super Mario RPG

Finally, it's time to deliver to the Geno fans. A popular character is usually surrounded by popular music (Magus anyone?) and Geno is no different. The theme of the forest Maze solidified Geno's fanbase as many consider it his track due to it's whimsical melody, and the fact the Forest Maze was where he joined your party. Not realy battle music, but a little remixing could fix that.

http://gh.ffshrine.org/song/135/28

3. Marble Zone: Sonic the Hedgehog: Marble Zone: Sonic the Hedgehog

Green Hill Zone is overrated. When people think of Music from Sonic the Hedgehog, they think of Star Light Zone, and of course, the Marble Zone. Everyone remembers those lava cascades, killer bees, death worms, and spike chandaliers of the old Genesis days. And why do they remember them? Because of this song.

http://gh.ffshrine.org/song/161/3

2. Halberd: Meta Knight: Halfmoon/ Halberd take over: Kirby's Super Star

There are two potential tracks for the Halberd stage that we've all seen, and I've chosen for you, the better and more probable of the two. This is already good battle music and doesn't even need to be touched by the composers of the game. A little updating wouldn't hurt, but if you've ever played Kirby's Super Star, this is Meta Knight's definitive theme.

http://gh.ffshrine.org/song/5547/10

1. Any Starfox Stage: Wolf O'Donnel: Star Wolf Theme: (Orig.) Star Fox 64

Saw this one coming eh? This is THE definitive reason I want Wolf in the game. If they do not put this music in the game, I will be disappointed. It's already a perfect battle theme. It already gets your adrenaline up. And it needs absolutely no remixing. This is the single track I want most for Brawl, and if through some reason in the universe you've never heard it, take a gander below. This one is the SF Assault version of Wolf's theme.

http://gh.ffshrine.org/song/1562/68

So what do you guys think? Take your time though. Read, and listen.:)

Neat thread, some of the songs I can't really see being stage songs however (i.e. Sanctuary Battle). But nice choices overall.

(Is numbered accordingly)

10. Cool song, they have to put something in from Assault after all, and it's further supporting Krystal.

9. Hey that's trippy... maybe if they set the tempo a little faster, it would feel more like a battle-paced theme.

8. Never played Link's Awakening, but this would sound pretty cool if it were mixed with the power of a console. Though I'm more fond of the virtuous dark world theme from Link to the Past, but that's me...

7. Wario never did have his own theme, huh. I don't disagree, but with his WarioWare get-up on, he might swipe a theme from one of those games and make a mischevious somehow.

6. Barely played Castlevania, so I can't say much except that it's cool. Brings a new, chilling mood to Smash.

5. For some reason, I lose the feeling of Zelda when I listen to it... Dark world idea still open!

4. Oh man I love this track! Though I don't see it battle-themed at first with it's playfulness, I'm sure they could think up something fancy.

3. Yup I remember this theme. But really, I know Green Hill is more renowned that Marble Zone. I like both themes, but you gotta give it to the classic Hill.

2. I didn't play Super Star, but I recall the theme from Air Ride... you can feel the sense of Kirby sprinkled in the theme. That would be fitting for Meta Knight.

1. Totally agree with Wolf's theme. Really, it can't be anything else now can it? It picks up another side of Star Fox, the essence of a great battle.

DK, you picked some AWESOME music. =)

10. Krystal needs music, too, and I think this was a fine pick. It was a bit mellow for orchestral bombast, but not bad. This one might require some tweaking as is, but it certainly has the frame of a full-figured battle tune.

9. Very chill, but still has that underlying pulse. Flesh it out a bit, and you have one sick battle theme.

8. Perfect. Whoever arranges it, Uematsu or Ando, will get compliments left and right; partially because they're both so talented, and partially because the source material is awesome. <3

7. Very neat choice. I'd love hearing the GB stuff reorchestrated and made fuller and richer. And the nice thing about Wario with a forest stage is that it could double as a stage for Toad (Wario's Woods)! =)

6.
Umm..never played Castlevania. =/
But a neat theme nonetheless.

5. I would LOVE to hear this given the original Palace treatment. I dunno if it's as good musically as the original, but it would be a nice alternate choice.

4. Ahaha, I always loved that song, and I'm sure it would work quite well for Geno. The basics of a good battle theme are there, it would just require a bit of refurbishing, so to speak. =)

3. YES PLZ THANK YOU. Marble Zone was my favorite (music-wise) from the first game, and it certainly ranks high in my pantheon of Sonic music through the years.

2. Perfection. I would only love to hear this in full orchestral form if only because it's that good. Amazing choice.

1. Not bad...I just can't get into the SF music, but this would probably be the best non-Venom-or-Corneria choice.

Overall, I like your taste in music. =)

Wow! I'm glad to see so much support for my choices! I especially like what Firebomb and Aeris said, and not just the support. I like the criticism as well.

For all of you who say Green Hill Zone will take precedence over Marble Zone, of course it will. That's obvious. I'm just saying I like Marble Zone's music better, but in all probability, if Sonic makes it into the game, so will the Green Hill Zone.

@ Anil8tion.

1. Not a bad choice for music, but I always liked The 64 version of Rainbow Road Better. The SNES version also sorta sounds like battle music already. But it's not a bad choice.

2. Excellent choice for a Bowser's castle stage. The only other possibility could be a remix of the original Bowser stage from SMB, but I think yours works better.

Dude I loved all this music, a few specific ones could be remixed or given a deeper battle-theme rythm but I loved them all, brings back memories =]

I don't know enough of the MM music to really give my opinion, but I think the Zelda music you said isn't really well known enough to make it into Brawl. They're good battle music, but really only for the Zelda series in my opinion.

I LOVE the way the Earthbound themes for Melee sound. Seriously. I really want more of those in SSBB. The Sanctuary Battle song sounds like a prime candidate too. I'd also like their take on Winters...

What about some songs from Super Metroid? It'd be pretty sweet to have that song from the green Brinstar area, as well as lower Norfair. Maybe that could come with a matching Norfair stage? Eh? Eh?

I was considering Winters too. It almost made the list.

The problem is... well... I never played Super Metroid. I'm hoping to get it for the Virtual console when they release it on there, but that's why nothing from Super Metroid showed up on the list. I've been told it has good music though.

Edit: @GreenMamba: YES!

Wow. Nice choices there, Destruction King. I agree with you on the majority of them. I don't have much to say about most of them so I'll just comment on a few.

First of all, Tal Tal Heights is one amazing theme. I used to go to Tal Tal Heights really often just to listen to the music. It needs a comeback.
About the Halberd theme, I always thought that the theme you chose was better than that other one. It's just more suited for a good, intense battle. But I don't really know about its probability to be chosen over the other one...

Anyways, there is one theme I'd absolutely LOVE to hear in Brawl. It's Factory Investigation from Kirby 64. However, it doesn't really have much of a chance to actually get in the game. Oh well. :ohwell:

And by the way, here are those two Super Metroid songs EcnivTR was talking about. I personally think they're awesome.

Hey, if Samus is going to have new tracks introduced to Smash, wouldn't they come from the Metroid Prime series? It's what made her who she is today... I'd imagine that series would have a strong influence in her stages, theme, music, and general presentation. I think it's time to move on from Brinstar.

Lower Norfair
I recognize Lower Norfair from Metroid Prime. Obviously, its popular enough to make it into the Prime series, so Brawl is always a possibility. The vegetation is new to me, but sounds like what I would expect from Metroid.

Unfortunately for this thread, my favorite Metroid track is Kraid's Lair (I do own the NES Metroid,) but that was already in Melee.

Oh, and Aeris, that's a great rendition of Beware the Mushrooms! I'm giving you +rep for finding it.

wonderful selections!

I would love bloody tears, but i just can't imagine Simon/Alucard or anyone else from Castlevania making the cut. It's not that I wouldn't mind them in, though.

As for Sonic music, i have a song that is often overlooked...but i would love it to be in. Of course, the chances of it making it? probably diddly...but...gotta hope, right?

Love the musical choices. And very very glad to see that somebody else loves Zelda II as much as I do :3 It's by far one of the best in the series, hands-down in my opinion, and needs a lot more lovin' than it gets. Thankfully Sakurai saw that in Melee, but will thunder strike twice? We'll see...

My only addition is a fun little factoid: in Dreammix TV, where Simon was also a fighter, his stage's theme song WAS Bloody Tears. Not Vampire Killer. Not Simon's Theme. Not even the bloody intro music. It was Bloody Tears :)

EDIT:

And actually, I guess I should add that while I do enjoy Sonic 1's soundtrack, and that Marble Zone had a cool tune, Green Hill is just like the Mario Theme: it's expected. Everybody recognizes it.

EDIT II:

And to prevent myself from double posting, I'll edit again.

If they include Mega Man, his theme music will be either Wily's Fortress from Mega Man 2 or the Main Theme from Mega Man 2, easily.

As for more Metroid music, I can definitely see some sort of crazy remix of the Prime theme.

Ahh thank ya kindly, DK! =) I feel obliged to return the favor.

And Flip: HELLZ YES. Seriously, MMII Wily is so awesome. I'd say battle music as Wily, and victory theme as MMII Title. As for Sonic, I guess Green Hill is kinda expected, but they should def include Marble Zone as an alternate, though.

Biosage: The arrangement wasn't bad, it just didn't do anything for me. Props to you for Sky Sanctuary, though; I remember it fondly. =)

How 'bout this one, Aeris?

http://djpretzel.web.aplus.net/songs/Super_Mario_RPG_GenosWoods_OC_ReMix.mp3

I want this song in the game.

Also, this song should be used for the online mode menus.
I love ocremix, and I've heard that Forest Maze rendition before. It's good, but I've always thought it was missing something...

On that note though, I mentioned in my first post that Link's Awakening had been used many times at ocremix. There was one in particular I was thinking about when I wrote that.

http://djpretzel.web.aplus.net/songs/Zelda_Links_Awakening_ClashattheMountains_OC_ReMix.mp3

I would LOVE something like this for Brawl. Maybe a little less techno and a little more "Zelda," but you get a good vibe from this.

And yes, that Kirby song would make for an awesome menu theme! Kirby's Super Star has some of the best music...

Nice find, Devastlian! I agree with DK that it seems like it's missing something, but it's still a great tune.

That's a great Pokémon battle theme for Brawl. Maybe they'll have one stage for R&S and one for D&P? But in any case, it's a good pick: the usual Pokémon battle drive with a little flair (but not the required 15 - it goes all the way to 37). =)

And nice pick for online menus! Kirby music just fits Smash so well.

That is some great Pokemon music. I also like the Battle with Steven Stone theme.

What bothered me the most about Melee's musical selection, although it was awesome, was the lack of labeling. They just kinda went "Jungle Japes," "Battle Theme," "Mother," and never specified where the songs were coming from. That got annoying. So I hope that, with the Wii, they really try and give us some more info about these songs, and don't just leave us in the dark.

Ahh, Flip, nail on the head, my friend! Music nerds like me want all the extra musical info we can get. Maybe they can include musical trophies (or something comparable)?

Hey, anyone played Kirby Air Ride? The City Trial theme would be an awesome track, both the original and the alternate, imo. I also believe that the City Trial can be made into a stage itself, giving the theme a place to play.

Wow I suck at this...well um here's the original City Trial theme... http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/1365/42
And this is it's alternate theme (personally like a little better, may sound choppy here): http://gh.ffshrine.org/soundtracks/1365/44

The game itself was made by HAL, and other people who worked on Melee, so I'm hoping that SOME material from Air Ride makes it to Brawl.

Air Ride's menus actually used the same engine as Melee ;p
