Devil May Cry timeline problem

Some say that the chronological order of the DMC series is 3, 1, 4, 2. I actually think this one fits together the whole plot, but I won't know until I get the answer.

Others say that it just goes 3, 1, 2, 4. Which may be true, considering Dante's older look in 4 than 2. Probably it's just the graphics, and Dante would look older if 2 was on something like the 360, PS3, or a nice PC.

What's the true order it chronologically goes? I need to end a few disputes among some people.

I guess 3-1-4-2 would be the accepted order until they make a sequel/show/movie that starts where 2 left it.

Mmhm, I've heard froma lot of people it goes 3-1-4-2, because of that same reasoning. But, when I first bought DMC4, my friend had beaten it already, and he told me that in 4 it shows how dante sort of "lost his attitude" [talking about how lame he was in part 2] But, I was disappointed, because I really didn't see any proof of why/how he lost his attitude...


Anyways, DMC is an amazing series, I'm still waiting on the movie, I remember so long ago, hearing about the movie coming out, I wonder if it ever will, lol?
