Devil May Cry Reboot

So it looks like Capcom is going to reboot Devil May Cry, I never played the fourth game so I'm not sure how necessary it is but...

Either way, from the trailer it looks like it might be a tad darker than the previous games (in terms of atmosphere) while at the same time keeping all of the camp fun from the older games. I'm not sure I like Dante's redesign but time will tell.

Also, It's not exactly a reboot. I've heard they're keeping the majority of the characters, including Trish, Nero, and apparently even Virgil is scheduled to make a comeback.

As long as they leave Nero alone, I'm fine with it.

I'm pretty sure this is a reboot. Reboots are allowed to have returning characters too.
And where did they say Trish, Nero, and Virgil are confirmed to be in DMC? I didn't read anything on that.

Anyway, I don't like the new look. And I don't like how the direction they took this series.
Ninja Theory taking the reigns on a new DMC was a lot of change that the fans would have to get used to, but changing Dante's design was pushing it. IMO, Ninja Theory shouldn't have gone this route for their first DMC game so they wouldn't have to deal with so much negative feedback.

With the current reaction, this could be Ninja Theory's last DMC game if the game turns out bad as well.

That's what I'm wondering. A reboot should only be necessary if you've screwed up a series pretty badly or if it's been ages since the last one came out.

As of now I'm not a fan of the new Dante. When I play DMC I want the protagonist to be an over-the-top sarcastic bad *** not.... um... this:

I don't like how they're making Dante a smoker. He never had to smoke to look "cool" and even Kamiya said he didn't want Dante to be a smoker.

meh so far my initial reactions are pretty negative but considering DMC4 was fairly mediocre a change of direction might be a good idea. But eehhh emo looking smoker Dante. Not rubbing me the right way.
