While testing and compiling data for myself with Marth, I began to notice that several things. One of these was that on the map Delfino Plaza, Marth has huge advantages. Marth, in my opinion, is in the top three for approaching in the game. Delfino is all about the initial approach, and since the map changes but is always neutral, the spacing will define the outcome.

Let me start from the top. Delfino Plaza starts off as a platformed map where Marth can play his normal game. But his advantage is, well, if he gets knocked off he can recover from beneath the map. His Dolphin Slash is a great killing move, and as such, can be used efficiently when he cuts through the bottom. His SH Fairs also **** here.

Now, you get to the sand bar stage. When the platform for the stage before dissapears, you want to space yourself so that right when the bar comes into sight, you Fair your opponent in the air. Then, when you land, set up for another punishing attack. This aspect of the stage is all about just building up damage with your normal tactics. I don't usually aim to kill at this point, but you can spike them through the water or off the map.

Now, here's where Marth REALLY gets an advantage. The map will change to a pillar part. His advantage is simple, play between the pillars. Your recovery can bring you from the water to the edge of a pillar, so keep that in mind. However, SH Fairs between the tops of the pillars will cause damage as the opponent is trapped. You can actually force them off the tops and then spike them down and get a kill.

Finally, the town setting. This is where you want to just push them to the edges and score kills. Always keep towards the edges, because when the setting changes Marth can SH Fair them. The setting changes to the platforms, so when they rise you keep them in the air then recover through the map and they lose a stock. This is where I will usually just build up damage and space them, maybe kill, but overall just keep them isolated so when the map changes they lose a stock. Then I repeat.

This is my view on why Marth rips this map up, please share your opinions.
