Title: Dead Rising 2
Developer: Blue Castle and Capcom
Publisher: Capcom
Release Date: TBA 2010
Platform: Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
Rating: The original Dead Rising was rated 'M' so the sequel will likely be rated the same.
MSRP: ??? (Probably going to be priced as the average new game price: $59.99)
Boxart: N/A at the moment

This game remains similar to the original Dead Rising. The player plays as the protagonist, Chuck Greene, facing off hordes of zombies while accomplishing specific missions. The game will include several new objects that can be used to attack the zombies, including slot machines, and a giant hamster ball. The number of zombies which can be seen onscreen at any one time has also been dramatically increased from 800 in the original to 7,000.

This game has also been confirmed to include multiplayer but at this time, no specific mode(s) have been discussed into great detail.

Is anyone else except me excited for this game? I have the original Dead Rising and it was pretty fun running around the different areas of the mall and killing the zombies in many different ways. One of my favorite parts of the original Dead Rising was when you would drive the car outside near the entrance to the underground parking lot and run 100's of zombies over at a time. I wasn't a big fan of rescuing the survivors though.

Irritating aspects of the 360 version, such as the single worst save system of this hardware generation, were ironed out for the Wiimake, but other issues made it pretty much round out.

Also, what's with these names. Frank West is about the most horrible name I've ever heard, but Chuck Greene isn't very far behind.

I enjoyed it all in all though, as long as it doesn't become an overwrought franchise I can see myself having fun with this series.

Exclusive Dead Rising 2 Prologue Coming To Xbox Live

http://kotaku.com/5469877/exclusive-dead-rising-2-prologue-coming-to-xbox-live

"Xbox 360 owners' wait for Dead Rising 2 just got a bit more tolerable, with the announcement of an exclusive playable prologue, Dead Rising: Case Zero, launching on Xbox Live prior to the game's release on August 31st.

Crecente is embedded at Microsoft's X10 event in San Francisco, where he sends word of a special treat for Xbox 360 fans of Capcom's Dead Rising. Dead Rising 2 may not be the console exclusive the first game was, but it will indeed have content exclusive to the platform that launched the series.

Dead Rising: Case Zero is a playable prologue mission that will be available before Dead Rising 2 hits store shelves on August 31st in North America, September 2nd in Japan, and September 3rd in Europe. The prologue bridges the gap between Dead Rising and Dead Rising 2, and should give players interesting insight as to how we got from here to there."

Didn't check those links, but I saw some vids that showed the weapons being put together to make others. Interesting concept, makes the game good for some longer plays. Depending on how they make it and let you play it will make it interesting. Didn't really like how when I played the first game I was always rushing to do things and there wasn't really a sandbox mode to my memory.

Game looks pretty good, I get the Resident Evil 4->5 vibe on this game. Pretty much same engine and animations with new graphics etc. But I'll really have to see when it comes around, not sure if I'll buy it before the prices drops.
