This was arguably the biggest weak point in the Brawl soundtrack. The styles were all over the place to where instead of diversity, it was more like inconsistency. The Melee and 64 soundtracks felt like each song was part of a greater whole. The Brawl soundtrack felt like it was a bunch of stuff put together.I mean, it'd be ridiculous to have Wise remix everything because we obviously don't want the whole soundtrack having a similar style...I mean, just look at Donkey Kong Country Returns and Tropical Freeze, Keiji Yamamoto adds some magic to the game with amazing original tracks like Weighty Way, Sticky Situation, Feather Fiend and Tiki Tong, Poppin' Planks was also very good, and many other composers have different styles that'd make the soundtrack richer, Koji Kondo, Michiru Yamane, Jun Senoue, Jake Kaufman, Motoi Sakuraba, Christophe Heral, Mahito Yokota, Tomoya Ohtani, Grant Kirkhope...and I'd personally love game composer baldfalk having a part in some tracks, after his AMAZING work on Sonic Before the Sequel and After the Sequel.
Words cannot express how wrong you are, having all of the soundtracks with a similar style would be extremely lame...why can't I go from a happy, Genesis tune like Green Hill Zone to a serious, guitar-filled madness like Ridley's Theme? The whole soundtrack having a similar style's a huge, blatant NO! I want all kinds of music genres and all kinds of different styles. This was arguably the biggest weak point in the Brawl soundtrack. Melee's soundtrack is also diverse, but it had consistency in which the tracks felt like they belonged together. Brawl, while the best soundtrack in the universe, does not have that, nor does it have its own voice. For example, let's say someone wants me to "Name That Soundtrack" by listening to the song. I can easily tell that Dream Land 64 or Brinstar (Melee) is a song from Smash, but I wouldn't be able to say the same for Ai no Uta or Environmental Noises.Words cannot express how wrong you are, having all of the soundtracks with a similar style would be extremely lame...why can't I go from a happy, Genesis tune like Green Hill Zone to a serious, guitar-filled madness like Ridley's Theme? The previous soundtracks were good, but Brawl's variation of genres and styles gave it a lot of style. And there are some songs that I wouldn't compromise to fit them into a 'style' like Gusty Garden Galaxy or Ai No Uta.
Kirkhope needs to voice DK.We need him, Robin Beanland, and Grant Kirkhope.
Trust me, I've listened to all of these... And actually know how to play a lot of them.Kirkhope needs to voice DK.
Funny how everyone here knows David Wise for his compositions for DKC.
I actually didn't know he composed DKC. I knew he did Battletoads, Solar Jetman and a bunch of other Rare Ltd. NES games.
EDIT: According to http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/credit/4115.html, he didn't do Solar Jetman. He did do A Nightmare on Elm Street, Wizards and Warriors 2, and Digger T.
I highly suggest you people go listen to some of the music he composed for those games. If you can't find the OSTs on Youtube, Google the NSF file of the game (or at zophar.net) and play the songs in an emulator.
