Yea, but how reliable is this source?
It must be reliable since it says on David Hayter's official website that he's voicing Snake in Super Smash Brothers. That means that this thread could go one of two ways: just letting it die or be closed by a moderator seeing as how the question has already been answered.

I think it's always been like that with Pokemon. The only reason we have the cries in the games like that is because they don't bother translating the cries.
actually is because they would have to record like 6 diferent voice tone for each pokemon
like attacking, geting hit, envading, sleepin, returning to the pokeball, ect it would take alot of memory at the game

David Hayter is NOT the voice of the "EA Sports - It's in the game" ad.

Just to let everyone know.

Quick questions.

How could there have not been any English voice work, if Jigglypuff is called "Jigglypuff". Otherwise, wouldn't s/he be Purin?

And what about the anouncer? saying Jigglypuff, and Bowser? vs. Purin and Koopa?

I doubt it. the only time they dub over japanese voices in smash, is to save from confusion, like with the pokemon voices. like, fox has an english voice, but they didn't use it, because there's no need to. same with mewtwo, since he never says his name. so yeah, we're most likely stuck with snake and ike's japanese voice.
Wait...I can remember in Melee him saying Mission Complete when he wins time to time...

I believe that's still his Japanese voice actor. They use the phrase 'Mission Complete' a lot in animes and stuff :/

Sakurai surely knows that the Americans and Europeans are familiar with Solid Snake's voice by David Hayter, so it wouldn't be much of a problem to cast him for it. Also Ike will get English voice acting, since the game came out in Europe and the USA too, unlike Marth's game...

100% it'll be Hayter. He loves being Snake, they'd certainly have no problem getting him. Not only that, but Kojima himself has been quoted as saying that he prefers the American voice acting for snake. That and the fact that David Hayter's website says he'll be doing it, and there's no doubt for me. Hayter IS Snake.

Also in that YouTube video's comments, Hayter (if it really is Hayter's account) replies to someone saying he's already done all the voice work for Snake in Brawl. Good to know :)

I'm sure i saw on David Hayter's imdb profile that he's already done the voice, and i mean, it would make sense for him to lend his vocal talents for his character.

Ah, I think I have a confirmation of this.

David has his own youtube page, and recently did a tribute to MGS for its 20th birthday.

One of the questions (on page 3) asks if he recorded stuff for Smash Bros. Apparantly, he has, and its "very cool".

See for yourself (read the replies).

So my fears are gone, just like that! Really happy to hear he's voicing Snake!

I wonder if the Japanese will have both Japanese voicing and English voicing, or just one....

New discussion start!

Dave'll be in. He's just not Snake without him. They still need sound effects for the characters. I doubt Kojima would let somebody else voice him. In fact, David Hayter is the thing I'm most hyped about for brawl. Imagine his death scream from MGS every time Snake gets KOed in Brawl
