The bi-weekly Smashboards Ask Me Anything (AMA) series is back! Every 2 weeks, we ask players questions directed to them by users of the Smash Bros. subreddit.

For this iteration, we talk to Florida's Austin "Dath" Brown, one of the most prominent Smash Wii U Robin specialists in the world. In the video below, Dath goes over Robin's match-up spread, Robin's placement on the tier list, his thoughts on his recent successes and what shampoo he uses to maintain his hair.

Dath's first foray into the international spotlight was at Shine 2016 last August. The Floridian came into the tournament as an underdog and came out a hero to all mid-tier character specialists. He ultimately placed 3rd at Shine, dominating the bracket and taking wins over top ranked players such as Tyler "Marss" Martins, Larry "Larry Lurr" Holland and Wesley "6WX" Alexander.

Stay tuned to Smashboards for more of the video AMA series and general competitive Super Smash Bros. content.

Author's Note: We would like to thank Dath for giving us this interview. If you wish to keep up with him, be sure to check him out on Twitter or follow his Twitch channel to see cutting edge Robin tech in action.

Team's Note: We at the Smashboards team want to wish our readers and the rest of the Smash community a Merry Christmas! Thank you for tuning into Smashboards for your daily dose of Smash news, interviews, discussions and event previews! We can't do this type of content without you! Thank you.

.....why was someone so interested in Dath's shampoo choice?

Still, this was kinda fun to watch, even if I don't share in his optimism about our character.

Also there's a name for Arcthunder-->SH Dair? I never knew that it was named at all.

Arcthunder-->SH Dair is called Ignis from what my Robin main friend has told me.

Arcthunder-->SH Dair
Can't believe I never thought of this.

It's knowing when to go in, when to hold back, when to camp, when to be aggressive. It's like having infinite options, but only one of them is right, and you have to be able to figure out which one of that is.

Turning a weakness into a strength. Use items to your advantage.

It may be one small mistake, but they can be costly.
Sounds about right.

As a tactictian, with Robin it's brain vs brawn. The higher the player's IQ, the better the Robin. Personally, I've been using Robin since the game came out. Nobody else on the roster feels more natural to me. I've tried using the high-tier characters like Shiek and Zero Suit, but I just don't enjoy their fighting style.

Fire Emblem is a game in which you have access to a wide variety of troops, all of which are dangerous if used right. There are countless ways you can build the army that is right for you. Winning in Fire Emblem is all about planning ahead, knowing the strengths and weaknesses of both the enemy's units and yours (which is why I like watching Izaw's tutorials), exploiting the terrain, and making the absolute best of the weapons & items at your disposal. You always want to keep a cool head and an agile mind, for it can take one little miscalculation to utterly screw you. "All doubts, no matter how small, must be extinguished" (Soren, from Fire Emblem POR). Giving up is absolutely useless--and suicidal; that's not an optimistic statement, it's a logical fact.

That all said, to add some input of mine own: If you want to get good with Robin, get good at Fire Emblem.
