I'm not sure. At first I thought maybe Deflicker (within the in-game options), but it doesn't seem to be. Did you get the difference in the screenshots above by toggling a Dolphin graphics setting?

Yep, its under Graphics>Enhancements for me, along with a setting to force it on for every texture, which seemed to imply a potential way to disable it per-textureI'm not sure. I have this same issue. No instances of Dolphin running. Is there a fix?Guys it keeps saying unable to save or import into the ISO. Be sure that it is not used by another program (like dolphin). How do I fix this?
Sorry, I don't know of a flag of some kind that might do that. My guess is that it's post-processing specific to Dolphin. Also, I tried changing a few different settings in Dolphin's Graphics settings, but couldn't achieve the difference you had in the screenshots. I'm not sure what you were changing, but I tried Anti-Aliasing, Anisotropic Filtering, and a few others.Yep, its under Graphics>Enhancements for me, along with a setting to force it on for every texture, which seemed to imply a potential way to disable it per-texture
What version of the program are you using? What exactly were you doing? Was it consistent (id it still happen after closing the program and trying again)? If you're not using the latest, can you try the process on the latest version (6.1.2)? Are there any special characters in the disc's file path?I have this same issue. Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean. Are you referring to the new color slots for costumes in m-ex?Any chance more color slots will be supported to convert textures to?
Yeah those, but if there's another way to do it already I just don't know yet. Thanks.Sorry, I don't know of a flag of some kind that might do that. If you still want to experiment, there are flags on Joints, Materials, and Texture structs, which you could try changing in DTW's Structural Analysis tab. Once you've loaded a stage file, you can right-click on a texture and go to 'Show in Structural Analysis tab' to find the relavant structures.

I'm using 6.1.2. I was replacing the neutral Fox skin, and trying to select "save" but I kept getting that error message. I restarted the program, ran as administrator, and restarted my computer to make sure Dolphin wasn't running. No special characters in the file path. I ended up selecting "save as" and creating a new ISO, and that worked. Idk if that's what you're supposed to do, but the video I watched just said to select "save".What version of the program are you using? What exactly were you doing? Ah, yeah. Most likely. But it's not high on my todo list atm, in lieu of some other projects I have (one of which might include a better costume-conversion solution), unless I start getting a lot more requests for this feature in DTW.Yeah those, but if there's another way to do it already I just don't know yet. That download comes with two files; one for neutral Fox (the "CONKER copy"), and one for green Fox; are you sure you imported the right one? If you didn't, DTW should have given you a warning during the import. I just tried replacing the neutral Fox costume with the CONKER copy file, and it worked. Does the crash happen on console, or emulation? If you're on emulation and you used the right file, I'm not sure what's wrong, and you might want to try working with a new disc, as it sounds like it might be a more serious issue with your disc.having trouble using this skin https://ssbmtextures.com/characters/james-mccloud-fox/ I put it through DAT texture wizard and save it but when i try using neutral fox (the replaced skin) it crashes. any help would sick
Strange. I just tried it, using v6.1.2 to replace the neutral Fox skin, and it worked fine with the "Save" option. Can you check if there are any error messages in a file called "Error Log.txt"? (It may be in the directory with the DTW executable, or in the directory with the disc, if you used drag-and-drop to open it.) What OS are you using? Yeah. .lat and .rat files are just .dat files with a renamed file extension, since each file in the disc must have a unique name. As long as you're replacing the appropriate color slot, or converting the costume with the CCC tab, they should work fine with Slippi. Is it possible to add .lat / .rat files to the updated slippi iso? itd be sick to have that option as an unranked possibilty even if it doesnt interact with the opponent.
Sure, but I'll need a lot more details.I have a problem with the program, when i import a texture it just does not do anything.
Could you help me please ?
The program probably doesn't have write-access to the location it's at. Are you running it from a location on your C: drive? You might need to give it permissions to write to that location.I am having a major problem when opening this program. I receive an error that says, "cx_Freeze: Python error in main script
Traceback(most recent call last):

What can I do?
First, you would open your disc in DTW. Then go to the file you want to edit in the Disc File Tree, which would be the MnSlChr.usd file (should say Character Select Screen in the description). Double-click on it or click on it and select "Browse Textures", and the textures in that file should appear in the DAT Texture Tree tab. Then you just need to find and select the texture you want to replace, and drag-and-drop your new texture onto the program.I'm new here (I just joined today), and i have a question. How do i replace CSPs in Dat Wizard?
Hi, welcome to Smashboards!
I think most likely there is a strange character in the filepath of the disc. Try checking that; you could see if changing it to something with only ASCII characters works. Let me know if that was the issue and what character it was. I need to add a check in the program for those kinds of special characters, so it can properly decode it, or at least let people know what the problem is.
Introducing DAT Texture Wizard, a program designed to encompass, simplify, and speed-up the entire Melee texture hacking process. It allows you to view, extract, and import textures from and to any file in the game! It also allows you to export/import/add/remove files or folders from your disc, or rebuild it. You can even import files larger than the originals, and perform many other disc operations not available in GCRebuilder. Advanced structural analysis of most files is also available.

Note: My PNG to-from TPL batch script also comes in the download with DTW (this script uses wimgt for image conversions, so it may produce slightly different results during conversion than DTW). You may or may not need this anymore, but basically it's a powerful, independant TPL texture converter, which utilizes drag-and-drop, so you don't even need to open a cmd window. If you'd like to know more about it you can look in the 'Old post content' below.
Note 2: The "Manual Placements" tab is basically just incorporation of earlier versions of this program (still useful in a few cases). Explanation on its usage can be found in the mostly-but-not-entirely-outdated guide, How to Hack Any Texture. Or, the "User Guide & Info.txt" file from DTW v2.x.
I've written my own codec for converting most TPL formats to and from PNG. If you'd like to use this in your own projects, shoot me a PM and I'll share the source code.
Thanks go out to those who led to the golden YaGCD, and all others who have researched, discovered, and documented their findings and reverse engineering.
I also want to give a special shout-out and thanks to @Achilles1515, @Michael Ashby, and @spamitburns for their support. You guys are awesome.
Feedback is appreciated (as well as any bug reports). There are still a LOT of features that could be added. I'll add new functionality based on what you guys would like to see as well as how long it would take to add. Even if you see that someone else is asking for functionality that you'd like, feel free to post anyway so that I know how much demand there is for it.
That's all for now. Enjoy! ^_^

i am trying to run the newest ver.I need more information before I can help.
What download or program version are you trying to run?
What operating system are you using? 64 or 32 bit?
Does any kind of program window open at all?
You could try deleting the settings.ini file, if it's present. And make sure that the program is in a place where it has write access.
Windows 10?i am trying to run the newest ver.
i am on 64 bit
and i dont thinks that any program window open
and i cant see any settings.ini
thanks
damm. is there any replacement to dtw?.Windows 10?
Are you trying to run one of the compiled executables, or the downloaded github repo? (In other words, is what you're running a .exe or .bat/.py?)
And this might be a silly question, but I assume you unzipped it?
If it's one of the executable downloads, then that's really weird. Sorry, but I'm not sure what might cause that. Maybe try copying the program's folder to your desktop or another location and try running it there.
Depends on what you're trying to do. If you just need to export/import files, you can use GCR. Though if you're importing files larger than the original ones already in the disc, you'll need to go through extra steps. Basically, you would need to extract the files from the disc using GCR, replace the files you need to in Windows, and then rebuild the disc using GCR.
If you're trying to replace textures, you can try HSDRaw. Though it's not as intuitive and there aren't really any guides on how to use the program, unfortunately. If you want, you could join The Melee Workshop Discord and ask around there for help with it.

sameHello, I have tried multiple version of DTW, everytime nothing happens when I try to import an ISO (either by draging it or opening it manually), I have an Error log file with this :

This was addressed right after that post. Did you try the suggestion there?same
mine was an error when i try to open datHey, sorry, I would've given you a guide before, but I didn't have any more time when I was responding. Anyway:
1) Open GCR (gcr_v1.0.exe)
2) Go to Image -> Open at the top, and open your disc image in the program
3) Right-click on "root" in the file/folder list on the right, click "Export", and choose a place to save the disc's files
4) Open the folder where you saved the disc files, and replace the existing file(s) with your new ones
5) Go to Image -> Close in the menus
6) Go to Root -> Open
7) Select the "root" folder you extracted earlier. Information should populate on the GCR screen
8) Hit Root -> Save. This will be the name and location of your ISO file. Seemingly nothing happens after selecting SAVE
9) Hit Root -> Rebuild. Your ISO will start being built and will be at the destination location you chose when finished
This was addressed right after that post. Did you try the suggestion there?
so i was trying to install this https://ssbmtextures.com/characters/inferno-shine/ but i dont know how. can someone tell me how?
reason why they did that so if you put the wrong texture file it will have a backup and you cant work around it (not sure)I'm getting a "The rebuilt disc was saved as a back-up" pop up when I try to save changes, does anybody have any idea what this is or how to work around it? PM would be cool so I can provide screenshots.

It means that the new, saved disc is being saved as a copy. That way, if you messed something up or there was an error with the program, you'll still have the original disc. You can turn this feature off in the settings:reason why they did that so if you put the wrong texture file it will have a backup and you cant work around it (not sure)
Try using the latest version of the program (v6.1.2). And make sure there aren't any strange characters in your file paths. If you're already using the latest version, can you go into more detail about the steps you're taking? When I try and save changes made by going to File > Save, my changes don't save. I still have the "File Replaced. Awaiting Save" text in the top corner. Same thing happens if I try renaming the disc and saving as something else. I'm probably missing something silly, is there anything I might be overlooking? I don't get an error popup or anything, nothing in the error log either. I'm importing .hps files if that helps but I'm getting the issue regardless of what kind of change I'm making
Thx for the reply. Was using 6.1.2, I still get the same issue even w/ a completely fresh install not touching any settings. Tried just exporting Fox's Orange Skin to test if I could import it over a .lat of the same color in 20XX and no dice. When I go to File -> Save Disc As and hit save in file explorer nothing happens. Disc size doesn't change or anything either. I wonder what it could be, same issue when I went back and tried older versions. It means that the new, saved disc is being saved as a copy. That way, if you messed something up or there was an error with the program, you'll still have the original disc. You can turn this feature off in the settings:
View attachment 341717
If you turn the feature off, the original disc will be modified or overwritten when you save.

Did you ever figure out this issue? It sounds to me like the program might not have write access to the file or save directory. When i try to import a file i keep getting unable to save or import into the ISO make sure that it`s not being used by another program like Dolphin. But i don`t have dolphin on my pc & the only other program i have open is Chrome. I tried the avoiding rebuilding disc option & that didn`t work so i don`t know what`s going on. Any help will be appreciated.
