Dash dance upsmashes

Is this done by doing an instant up+A, or is there another trick to it?

That is how I do it and I don't know of any other ways.

I usually use control stick up + c-stick up so I get instant up-smashes. You can also charge it by pressing z with the c-stick input.

Its called jump-cancel. You can grab or Up smash out of a dash or run animation by jumping while you press either Grab or the C-stick.

The c stick is better than A because that way you won't charge it (which takes frames). Personally I claw when I need to JC upsmash so I just press y and then flick the c stick up, but I guess flicking both sticks works well too
