Dash canceling or jump canceling smash attacks?

I didn't see any threads on the use of dash canceling or jump canceling Smash Attacks. We all know the major uses and such, but to you, which is more preferable? Is there any specific reason to use one or the other?

My situation implies that you are running towards an opponent, perhaps following their fall from above. Is one faster than the other? Or is it a matter of personal choice based on how easy it is too pull off?

Thanks for your inputs. :)

JC usmash comes out faster than a dash cancelled one (minimum one frame, max 3 frames, before smash starts). As opposed to the dash cancel which adds X frames before the usmash (where X is some # i forget right now, but is the # of frames it takes to crouch >4).

How big of a difference does it make when in actual use? Comparing the two by just looking at it, each looks just as fast as the other. Then again, as you said, there is a 1 frame difference. Does it make that much of a difference in actual use during a game?

I didn't say there is a 1 frame difference, i said there is a minimum of 1 frame between usmashing, and jc usmashing (max 4). A dash cancelled one takes several fames more than a standing usmash. (can't seem to find the data at the moment).

Just listen to him. JC is better, since you can do it pretty much anytime opposed to the dash-cancelled. At high percents, I like finishing them off with a JC upsmash after a jab that sends them a bit too far for a regular usmash.
