Dark Costumes in SSE

I'm not sure if there's a thread about this already(if there is this one will simply get locked), but I'm thinking the "Dark" costumes that we've seen in Brawl are there for more than just style. Granted, they're cool as F***, but I'm thinking that they will play some role in SSE, like you fight Dark versions of characters as you go along.
Any thoughts?

In that case, they might as well turn the entire character black like the Dark Link Event Matches instead of using a dark costume.

Its an interesting concept, although I feel that they are just throwing in the Dark costumes because of those certain characters having a dark side or a fight against a dark version of themselves. Could be possible, however it seems highly unlikely.

As for color changes though, this could work. I want to see a dark Lucas and dark Ice Climbers!

I think this can easily work with Zelda and Peach. We don't exactly know what happens after Wario comes. Maybe they get possessed by those shadow bug things.
