Dancing Blade: Spammable?

I played brawl for the first time about an hour ago, and i noticed that marths forward B is inhumanly fast. It is one of his fastest moves, with decent knockback and little lag time. It has been buffed incredibly from melee. Is it worth spamming?

Your thoughts, please

As long as you get the timing right, it does seem crazy. Meljin's videos has him consistently using the attack. It seems to be effective even when the enemy has a high percentage. He was doing the move on a Falco that had over 120% damage. The move doesn't fling people off very far until the last hit, so barring any changes to the North American version we should be able to use it at higher percentages to knock people off the edge.

Although I have to say that it doesn't seem to be a reliable kill move per say. It's more like a damage dealer/launcher. But that in itself is useful. Marth has a fair amount of options for kills anyway.

Was that pun an accident?

Anyway, I think having a topic for this is fine, so long as its one topic... we do have a whole board to Marth talk and all...

I wonder if Marth's Dancing Blade took some of Roy's properties (which moves spike and launch, and such). Do we know what parts of Dancing Blade spike right now? Roy spiked at 3 - Up and Marth spiked at 3 - Down. And Roy's best launches were 3 - Forward and Down, and 3 - Up and Forward... I don't know what Marth's launchers were for Melee (Roy mainer).

i don't know. to me using the spiking parts of the dancing blade didn't help much in melee. but who knows with brawl. (3 down spike is real funny when it happens tho, lol)

It looks really good but it lacks a good knockback

but it's not to bad for racking up the dmg it seems but there still better options.

well. the dancing blade was practically a dead move in melee, with essentially zero use or potential. jsut a show move, apart from the side recovery B when offstage.

if it is in any way faster or more offensive in brawl then it would be worth using, making it an extra benefit to marths relatively dry appearing move set

None of them spike. The third one kind of sends them down, but it's by no means a meteor or a spike.
His up smash has a strangely positioned spike (a little bit past his feet on both sides).

His Over B looks pretty awesome now, still has the ability to punish spotdodgers and probably even airdodgers. Can you shield in between hits?

No it wasn't.
Fantastic to know you have a point of view, is there any particular reason you want to so blatantly contradict my last statement? or are you just a disagreeable person. lets here some reason behind something like that

It's pretty spammable. My friend managed to pull it off a dozen times within one of our matches without difficulty (and at LIGHTNING speed), and I tried afterwards- to me, it felt that as long as you strung the first two about right, the rest would flow right into it regardless of whether or not you mash-spammed the B button.

On the other hand, both high and medium routes (for holding the control stick in mid-combo) seemed to only dish out about 11-16% damage TOTAL (for the entire combo), and the lower route seemed to dish out a bit more evening out at about 20%ish.

I'll answer for him. Dancing blade in Melee owned SHiek. Most players, even pros aren't used to dealing with it too. My Playstyle uses it alot. Especially to bump me up in the air as a dodge. Fox's Uair misses due to this all the time :)

As far as Brawl goes, I miss the upward momentum it gave. That was a huge part of my gameplay. Now it's gone and Marth plays so differently. He's still good, but I won't be maining Marth this game. The move was moved from the defensive/mindgames section to The Best Combo In The Game. i'm not a fan. Marth lacked uniqueness to begin with. Now he's Generic swordsman IV even moreso than last game. I also miss the flashy colors.

Goodbye Marth HELLO Pit.

Marth's sword has flashy colors during dancing blade.

This move is really good. I spam it at times. I like to use up on the last hit and try and Nair them after. I'm not sure if this will work all the time. I did it once I think. Or not, I forget. Haha

if it sends them down then it's a spike
I said kind of down. Learn how to read.
lol jk
I didn't explain it correctly. It sends them horizontally, with a tad bit of vertical drop. But, it's completely not a spike.
Marth has an utilt spike, an usmash spike, and his dair.
