So on some characters if you d-throw (maybe some other throws too?) at the edge there's a chance that they don't hit the ground and are sent plummeting down. Why does this happen?
Also on Smashville with Kirby and Charizard I did an up throw on the moving platform to see what would happen if there was no landing point. They finished their throw in midair around where the stage itself would be if it was longer. Why does this happen too?

Kirby dthrow, Fox dthrow, Falco dthrow, etc. all send directly down, which is why when you are at an edge, if you dthrow, the opponent will be sent plummeting off the stage. As for Charizard/Kirby/MK U-Throw, AFAIK the cause for this is the animations do not go all the way into the bottom death boundary, which is why it does not cause a suicide throw like Melee Kirby's throws did.

Right, but it doesn't happen all the time. Like sometimes they will stay on stage sometimes they will plummet. Does it have to do with accidental DI/SDI?

As for the prevention of suicide throws, was this done on purpose?
