I'd definitely love this. Would certainly make a complete Leif alt for Marth (basically add brown hair to the white outfit) and give ZSS green hair with a pink jumpsuit.

Yeah... I don't exactly expect that neither. This wouldn't be a bad feature per se, even if without option of hiding it online like some of you seem to be suggesting, but I don't think it would pull in anyone, precisely because it is limited and thus alright.
I'm sorry, say this again but this time explain it better? Thanks.
Some of the people here take for granted that if such a feature was implemented, you could disable seeing other people's palettes in online play.

I just don't see Nintendo allowing us to edit Nintendo characters, did you see how much **** they do to get the animations just right? There's probably a similar process for alternate colors.

Also pretty sure SEGA does not care for the fan character stuff.

Yes and no. Of course, some community palettes will not look as good as the real deal. On the other hand, some skins are already rather random, and the whole process is very easy to implement. It's basically an equivalent of releasing a coloring book and then somehow restricting the children buying it to filling the white spaces with solid colors. Hell, it stays consistent with the trophy lore if they still care about this.

This post shows how little you know about 3D character modelling as a whole.

I was expecting it for brawl, hopefully we at least get this for the "character customization" sakurai talk about...

I'm all for it if I have the option to turn it off online, I don't want to constantly be fighting Ike's with neon green hair and pitch black armor.
