I watched only the first match.

Two major things:

1) Your d.i. is really bad. The first stock...you could've d.i.ed your way out of his combo 17 dash attacks ago. >_> If he ftilts, don't survival d.i. back into him - you'll just get owned even harder. You need to learn the difference between combo d.i. and survival d.i., then apply them accordingly.

2) Consistency and fluidity issues. You blocked alot of attacks, but didn't ever punish Sheik heavily for that mistake. You'd block an attack then sidestep for example. WD of out shield and grab, or SH dair if you block part of the dsmash.

Because Sheik CCs so much, you need to grab spam. Edge-guarding would help too. Grab the edge and abuse invincibility frames and force her on the stage. Then hop on and hit her back off, or usmash her. If you take the edge away from Sheik, she is completely helpless while coming back onto the stage.

I'll type more later.

This match will show you how important fluidity and edge-guarding is. Pay attention to how he punishes after he dodges an attack. Instant shine to grab that leads to like 40% damage or more. You have to be quick and efficient, and keep pressure on Sheik. Ideally, this is how you would want to play against a Sheik.

i never really learned the difference between combo and survival DI
so thanks a lot for pointing that out

as far as consistency and punishment goes, i just want to say that it wasnt one of my better matches
i would really appreciate it if you watched the 2nd match, at least
thanks :]

and do you have any ideas for improving these areas of my play?

like things to think about when im playing, like, what moves should i DI where, and is this something i can be taught, or do i have to figure it out through experience?

and, another comment, i really do have a lot of trouble with punishing people, when i play my friend that plays sheik, not X or 4%, he basically just spams grab
so when i spot dodge it, i usually try to grab him out of it, but then he just spot dodges it, and grabs me back

i cant grab him, but he can grab me
i know there are varying properties of spotdodges and grabs, but i feel like this is something i should be able to do, as i see other people do it all the time

Lol fun times spot dodging and grabbing.

DI is something that will stick with you and gradually improve the most. It just depends on how much you focus on it.
I think over all reflexes need to improve you do make some good choices for your level, but just slow responses, +1 for blue fox

you need to work on your reflexes. In the first match you had a perfect chance to punish sheik on the second stock when you where at 75% but i guess you hesitated and didnt block or anything. then on the first stock you keet on lasering. Lasers with fox are that well up close or close quarters. they're mostly for building up damage when you're edge guarding. Also on the first stock when you first grabbed him and up-air'd him you didn't have to laser him. I think that you were just nervious and let your nerves get to you. It's happened to me before and i failed badly. i got four-stocked by a pika... but you learn from your mistakes so watch the match and notice all the mistakes you made and try to adjust it so that you won't do it again. BTW it's a decent fox...like just decent enough to be decent...keep working on it...

Thats when you shine to wave-grab silly (After the spot dodge that is, shine afterwards so they can grab you)

I liked them, but I saw that you got up somewhat slow while handing of the edge of the stage, which leads Shiek to easily KOing you. One thing you could do is jump away from the stage and illusion back on. But whatever you find works best.

nail on the head, u squander too many openings, u sidestep a tilt and run away. Fox dtilt outranges all sheiks tilts, spam that with good spacing, and out of cc if u get locked down in a ground battle.

other than that, work on smarter pressure, u have to control that matchup. Though yOur fox looked much nicer a couple weeks ago in cleveland but it was similar issues, too timid, i didnt feel pressured like when i played 4$. Also u full hop out of shield too much, x wasnt calling u on it but thats a big thing i look for out of foxes.

fox > falcon for the sheik matchup all the way, im going falco on fox now though lol
