Critique My Fox, please (or criticize--probably more that)

I play fox as a very close second after Dr. Mario. I know all the tech stuff (even if I can't do it, I know what it is)

Knowing what I need to work on would be good. I apologize for the skill of my opponents.--except for the marths-- they aren't that good, but hopefully you cab still catch my numerous flaws.

i'll just dissect you first video for you since nobody else will.


:00 why are you just standing there, she's on the opposite side of the stage, shoot some lasers.

at low percent, don't go in for nairs. Most sheiks will CC them into downsmash. Try shooting lasers for a while then approach with nairs. at low percents, you can also drill shine +grab/usmash to gain percent.

:30 stop staying in your shield so much, you're getting *****. That sheik doesn't grab a lot, but most will, so you'll get *****.

:43 don't do dash attacks against a sheik, they usually lead to a CC dsmash or grab.

:49 Learn to Jump Cancel your grabs, if you don't you can be easily punished with the lag time.

:54 work on sweetspotting a lot. Fox can easily be gimped by sheik if you don't sweet spot.

1:00 ........... learn how to up air.

thanks for the advice!--wish you could do that same for some of the other vids--they aren't all as long, and I do things more correctly in them (that was my first match of the day, around 20 minutes after I woke up)

ok, video 2, I'll try and do something for you..


-first seconds : try not to use his dash attack as much. You used it a lot and it can be easily chain grabed.

-:25 when he dashes at you, don't just roll back. You can spot dodge or roll behind or jab, bu if you roll back he could easily grab you.

- :30 practice short-hopping. You could have h thatnair hit.

- :36 Why did you spot dodge so much?

- after the kill- nice tech skill..

- 1:06, before you were comboed : need to jc grab

- 1:39 Whn a marth is that far below, don't try to shine spike him. He can easily dolphin slash you like he did. you could crouch cancel to downsmash, or do the weak-shild thing with his upb so you fall on the edge and then immediately ledge-hop a bair

-1:44 Maybe grab next time... or when you follow his roll, usmash.

-about 2:00 - DI to the right or left when he is comboing you, and jump away from him

- 2:35 - that ledgegurad.... just ledge hop a back air, and he can't even put up a shiled cause of landing lag.

Overall:
-I woud say use more lasers, but that's your choice
-And try to shine after your aerials that hit his shild then short hop to another aerial

But really, your fox is pretty good.

Thanks for the advice. I spotdodge a lot against this person because of habits from when first playing him (as doc) I know abstractly that there are better alternatives (especially with fox) but I forget when actually playing... something to work on.

And I'll try to laser and shine more--I am just afraid of messing up after shines because my fingers are still to slow to jump out and WD/whatever. I usually get to the direction first, so I just turn around in my shine...

Vs. Sheik: The first stock of the match wasn't taken till like 1:30. You're a Fox. WTF?!

You need to stop trying to look fancy...if thats what you're doing; and try to be more fluid. When you have openings to punish Sheik, abuse them. Grab, nair->utilt...anything you feel is necessary. The key thing is at least getting a hit when it counts.

Vs. Marth: uthrow uair ***** Marth. You should be spamming that to hell. DD and keep moving. Make sure you JC all your grabs, and don't miss opportunities to waveshine usmash if you can help it.
