All right. Here's the plan.

The local crews( if others want to come they can) set a date to all get together. I have a venue that will hold a large number for cheap. Have cheap food and cheap housing. Some people have played there, and I'm sure they'll agree it's a good place for a tournament.

So, I'd like to get the ball rolling with this information.

I'd like to have it in April.

1. It has to be after Musical season. I doubt your crews are affected, but I'm the only one notassociated with it.

2. It's before school is over.

3. It's far enough that people shouldn't have plans yet.

No exact date yet. Just throwing out April for now to get the consesus. This should finally settle the score between SCS and GGPD.

Crews:
GGPD
SCS
SCS2
MCC

Also, what tournaments do you want? I'm pretty sure we'll do singles and doubles, but if you want we can have the crew battles of money behind it. I want atleast 8 crews though.

1. Crew
2. Singles
3. Doubles

You have a typo in #1:
1. It's have to Musical season. I doubt your crews are affected, but I'm the only one notassociated with it.
1. It's after Musical season at our high school. I doubt your crews are affected, but he's the only one not associated with it somehow.

the weeekend of the 7th would be the best.

reasoning:

1) tekkoshocon wont get in the way (weekend of the 13th)

2) us college folk wont be cramming for finals until the weekend (or a few ) after.

i know that PITT gets out earlier than alot of the other colleges and that their finals(cmu, duq etc.) are later so their finals schedule shouldnt be effected in any such way. Im really pushing for this date because I wasnt able to get to SitC:2 due to it being the day b4 new years.

Every one state their crews and I'll put you on the attending list. (Not exact numbers yet.)

as rob said the m.c.c will definitly be there. I think there should a singles tournament, maybe a double tournament and defintly some friendly crew battles. I think if this is well promoted you can bring in a lot of really good players. Its the same place at last time correct?

Yes.
i say have all 3(singles, doubles, crews) , but if you wanna snip one, then let it be doubles.
We never had much of a turnout for doubles. I remember at the first tournament I ended up paying for Rose and K_Walk's entry fee.
how far is this form NYC?
About 400 miles, give or take. Think Pittsburgh, then go up and to the left.

I think if anything Take out Crew battles and keep doubles. Well, actualy i take that back. Wait until we see who all actualy shows up before we start taking away from the events.

I want to expect better of you, but I know not to
Anyone know if Renth and his crew have seen this?

Pending anything unforseen, I should be good to go to this, but it's so long from now it's hard to tell. It would be cool if we could maybe get more interest from the rest of the state and make this a larger type event. What's the venue like? Would it be capable of holding a larger scale tournament?

how far away from DC is this??
I'm guessing 3 hoursish. Someone from exact location should give you that info, but that's roughly how far pittsburgh is, and I'm guessing this is close to that.

If that's true then you can count us in.. i don't mind driving 6 hours if there's money involved...

ChozenOne-pretends he's a jedi when going through automatic doors..
Korn-will roast you in butter..
Fob$-taught Bob everything he knows..
Masa-better than the Germ..
SmashGod-leave luck to the mortals
5% Tax-it's Phukin Shiek!!
KC Cloud-the New Wuss
Tak$-the Hova of TNR

5 base, 3 alternates... $100 a crew.. 25 stock... FD, PS, and Dreamland. Counterpicks allowed, but only if entering player picks stage. First two players go random stage (FD, PS, DL), and go double blind.

Anyone disagree??

I'm not too familiar with crew battle rules, but are those the standard?

8 players seems a little steep... Panda Detective only has 5 at best. I'll look up some official stuff, discuss with Twindreams, and see how to work this out.

i disagree, $100 is too rich for my blood (I know, $20 a person but it's still ridiculous)

the rules are fine

and the crew tournament should definitely be cut before a doubles tournament; crew battles are going to happen anyway regardless of whether they're official or not

Don't forget, the whole purpose of this tournament is the crew battle. Everything else is secondary, even singles.

I propose $60 entry fee per crew. 4 member minimum, 3 max alternates. Dave's Stupid Rule (per member, not per crew), Advanced Slob, Stupid Ignatius, 3 random crew battle stages (FoD, FD, Kirby64). 20 stock per crew.

This is the first crew battle Panda Detective has hosted, and we want maximum participation even from the small crews that don't have many members. It may not sound like much when 10 people split a $100 entry fee, but for a crew of 4, it's quite a lot to be spending on a video game event.

just my opinion, but building a whole tournament around what amounts to a two-round event and cutting out a large percentage of the smash population because they either don't have a crew or aren't the top few for their crew (and don't want to waste a ton of money playing with people they don't know for very little chance of winning) isn't a great idea

crews are great and all but i think you must have the standard events (at LEAST singles, preferably doubles too) to have any sort of drawing

Not all of this works for me.. PS is far more neutral in comparison to FoD. $15 for person.. fine. 4 person min.. even better.

Coo.

OK, we'll change it to PS (or add it, if you guys want). MLG said something about FoD being crew-neutral, but it's probably outdated anyway. Can't believe I forgot about PS.

There will still be a singles tournament. Probably a doubles, too, unless we have time constraints. I'm just noting that in order of importance:
1. Crew battle
2. Singles
3. Doubles
We'll definitely try to get everything in , and we probably will have a doubles tournament. Again, I don't think it'll happen, but doubles is not our priority right now.

Edit: 200th post!

I think the crew battles would be sweet, but $100 dollars seems a little much, if you promote the singles tournament i believe there will be a better turnout.

Gier must have misunderstood. There is no specific focus, I just wanted to appease the people and have a huge tournament. (For fun and for charity.)

So, because the last one was such a flop. I'm contacting the crews and saying. "HEY COME TO THIS!!!" That way instead of contacting a few people, I'm contacting a few crews. I just wanted to spread the word. AFter I got SCS, GGPD, MCC, etc. all involved. I was hoping more crews would come. With my abundance of crews, I was hoping individiual players will show up for the large amount of competition.

There will definitely by a singles tournament. Doubles and Crew will be by popular demand. (We'll probably have all three.)

There are two floors. In the upstairs room, we can fit atleast 10-12 tvs EASILY. We have a side computer room, but whenever I hold tournaments, all my friends who play WoW go in there. So that'll more than likely be taken.

The basement can hold a more tvs than I can think right now. The ceilings low however.

Depending on the weather, it's going to be hot. I had a tournament in summer, and it was horrible. As long as it isn't raining we can have fans blowing air outside. That's the only real problem. There is some furniture, but I suggest you bring a sleeping bag/blankets. (If you can't we have a few)

There will be cheap food and housing. Housing is $5. So you don't have to worry about finding it.

I think I covered anything, any other questions?

April 7th.

I'm all for crews. i'll talk to a few of my friends, and see if i can bring them. Probably wont enter the tournament. But they might stay the night and just play.
