Hey guys,

I found this silly petition to cancel the Gamecube Adapter and I thought it was funny perhaps and that you would enjoy a good laugh?

While im more of a Real Smash Bros player, and less of a Competitive-style player, I thought you guys would get a laugh out of this website I found:

https://www.change.org/en-AU/petiti...er-adapter-its-the-worst-controller-ever-made

I get that competitive Smash is a very small group compared to the Full Classic Smash Bros fanbase, so the point this individual makes about it not selling? Do you agree? Or is he being a bit too rash? Nintendo needs all the money they can get...

That's nothing, I've found several petitions to cancel for Glory and the FD mode. Oh, and another to permanently keep items on.

While I prefer Brawl and Items matches, I still want no items available. The customization is there to help those that can't handle items based combat. Keeping them on permanently would make it difficult for newcomers. The items off was designed initially for the N64 version to make things easier for youth playing the game for the first time. Removing it would be a bad idea...

Yeah, all those petitions are honestly beyond ridiculous.

Why would you lower the options of a game when that's a major point of why it sells? Sakurai is well aware some people don't put Items on, and he gave us the option to turn them off knowing that not everybody likes it that way. He outright wants us to play it the way we want to while trying as many options as possible.

For Glory was due to the online players over-selecting Final Destination(and they weren't necessarily competitive players, mind you, so this isn't a competitive thing at all), and never selecting anything else. Competitive players actually are way less picky than that. And yes, tons of players, if not all, have tried items and all kinds of options too. It's fine to not enjoy them, of course. It's another thing to try and get them removed to ruin it for players who do like the options. That's just selfish. I think it's obvious Sakurai is going to ignore the petitions since they would ruin the entire game for tons of people.

Now, a petition to get Battlefield modes added(at least in the Wii U version or as DLC) is feasible since it would be fun for multiple people.

In a lot of ways, "items off" is an accessible gateway for people to step into the game. From there they can try the full hardcore experience and learn the rest of the game mechanics. If tripping returns as rumoured, the additional speed similar to Brawl's Special Brawl mode should prove more sufficient for those that prefer Mk3-4 / Killer Instinct frenzy style combat...

Possibly.

But I didn't mind starting with them on in 64 either. I thought it was fun and it helped you ease into the overall mechanics. Plus, Training Mode does a great job in letting you try stuff, regardless of items. Slowing down the speed also made it really easy for you to practice and time your moves.

I think the fact they're on by default but can easily be removed by a player is perfect overall. New players may try just about any combo available for a match, any mode, any character, etc. The more ways to control this, the better.

That's true, that's one of the things I really appreciated about Brawl. You could customize matches like crazy. The moderate pace in Brawl was still quite fast. I think people just couldn't handle the removed Wavedash. I hope you can adjust the For Fun mode in Smash 4, just to create crazy variables.

For Fun likely will be that. You could still customize online stuff if you hosted during Brawl, you were just given a pointless time limit to set it all up.

And Melee let you customize to a degree too. Brawl's Special Mode was a pretty neat upgrade, like making your own Event Mode. What I'm hoping is that they'll allow you to set Handicap as well as a mode akin to Brawl's Handicap where you actually separately set a character percent and knockback. You couldn't set both for any individual character in a single game. Every Handicap has had differences so far. 64 wouldn't let you do so to computers, but it only affected knockback. Melee let you set computers, but it was still knockback only. Brawl removed the knockback bit, but made it so you set a person's starting "health" as in their percent.

Nintendo needs all the money they can get...
You are like the third person this week I'm swooping in to remind that Nintendo is not having financial issues.

I don't know where this completely untrue and un-evidenced notion came from, and I implore you to not be one of the mis-guided folks spreading it.

Nintendo is NOT in dire straights. Not even close.

These two threads you have made don't have much going for them, they're two petitions from a single person that no one cares about. 8 and 1 signatures.

Welcome to smashboards btw, but threads like these aren't really for this section of the website.

Your other thread relating to the two franchises may be worthwhile to have in the nintenzone, as that pertains specifically to Nintendo franchises, while that thread doesn't really have much to do with Smash specifically or Smash 4.
