I have a theory about the next smash announcement and i believe that crash will be announced there why? Because according to rumors in the Crash Bandicoot community, the next game will be announced in June and since Sakurai has told us that more smash news are coming in June, its the perfect time to get our favourite marsupial in the game. Well thats about it, nothing else to say, although there are also other crash rumors that the next game will be announced this month. Tell me your opinion

I think... it says a lot that 'revenge spammer' is in your name, mate. (There is a Crash thread where this would be located... pardon if I sound a bit blunt).

I don't think we will get Crash. I think if he *was* planned, then it will be moved to a fighter pass 3, because it would be quite a lot for Sakurai to be coordinating with a third party company, especially across the seas. He prefers to meet in person. We were delayed information for such a long time, in large part almost guaranteed from Corona. I do not think it is possible that we will get the same type of collaboration in fighter pass 2. In fact- I think Byleth might even have been pushed up to fighter 5 to help Nintendo keep the characters coming out when third party interaction became impossible.

We have no suggestion that Byleth was exempt from "these characters were decided by November 2018" even with his status of being worked on as his game was in development. And even Fighter's Pass 2's characters, decided in November 2019 considering Byleth's presentation states the characters were decided and that it was recorded in November 2019, would still have been long before one could have reasonably specifically foresaw the effect Corona was going to have, and also definitively shut down development of certain characters as if assured that there was totally going to be a foreseeable future where they couldn't be negotiated in time at all. The "meeting with other publishers has become difficult" part of Sakurai's column even at least suggests further third party work, and a third Fighter's Pass doesn't really look so good with Sakurai's statements on that.

The Western side of Pop Star.
On the flipside, both the Smash team and various companies have transferred fully into a working-at-home structure (sometime after Sakurai did his statement), theoretically making video negotiations still possible, depending on the character. Activision is among one of those companies. So far, we know for sure that the chances for a Capcom character are almost certainly nil, since they've closed down entirely until further notice.

Also, I agree that this would have been best brought up in the Crash thread.

I mean to be fair, even that might not explicitly deconfirm a Capcom character as they couldn't have possibly foreseen that when choosing the characters in November 2019, it's just really awkward now, is all. I don't think they'd switch out a character just like that, either.

I don't see Sakurai negotiating characters over the phone/via video conference.

I could be completely wrong- but in the past, he has emphasized meeting with companies in person, wanting to honor the character, and the difficulties of language/cultural barriers during communication. This is *not* aided by a teleconference.

Sure- he could have lightened this up. I just dont think he would have, in my own personal speculation.
