Smash Wii U CPU AI in Smash for Wii U : Is it different from 3DS?

Now this may just be me but I notice an incredibly stark difference between the two, namely in that the Wii U AI seems to be hugely superior.

This is a "feel" thing, but I generally can 3 stock any lvl 9 on the 3DS version without breaking a sweat. Since picking up the game, I'm not ashamed to admit that against 9s I am fighting tooth and nail for every stock. They recover low which I felt the 3DS CPU never did, making them tougher to edgeguard unless you get creative, and their own edge-guarding can be surprisingly on-point.

Does anyone else notice pretty clearly that the AI in this game seems to be superior to the 3DS? If it's true, I honestly have to wonder, why did they skimp out on giving the 3DS that kind of difficulty level to practice with?

PS. This is not a discussion about whether CPU's are good to practice with or not.

Well, the Wii U version was supposed to be harder.
I mean that's what changing the level of a CPU is for, you can always make it easy, it just seems strange to me that they would lower the existent ceiling of difficulty when someone who needs an easier opponent can always just move the level down.

They're just as shield grab happy as they were on the 3DS, but they seem a bit more varied in terms of how they try to punish you if you're outside of their grab range, as opposed to always going for a forward smash.

Characters with meteor smashes will also much more readily try to spike you while you're coming back (With often suicidal results on some stages), and they're also more prone to defending themselves while returning to stage.

I have noticed that the Wii U CPU has a more complex and aggressive behavior than the 3DS CPU. From what I have seen so far:

-I have never seen the Wii U CPU spam air dodges when launched.

-The Wii U CPU doesn't roll spam as much.

-The Wii U CPU only air dodges when you go for an aerial attack or an attack that can reach an airborne CPU.

-It is much harder to spike a Wii U CPU because they air dodge when you initiate an attack.

-I also noticed that the Wii U CPU does occasional mix ups (they jab a few times and then grab you).

-On a few occasions, I have seen the Wii U CPUs short hop and attack you.

Now because the CPU only air dodges when I initiate an attack, I have managed to trick some of them when they try to recover, specially on characters with a limited recovery (I attack after the CPU uses the second jump, which by that point the CPU is unable to recover due to an unreliable recovery).

Edit: BTW I finally participate in one of your threads Zipzo :)

Yes they are better players.

CPU palutena does down grab plus up or fair combo.
After you used upb, if you are getting near the ledge, she uses down smash to avoid that with the air.

Nasty Palutena CPU

I think the Wii U CPU is massively better than the 3DS CPU. I am often having trouble with lvl. 8 CPU, when I barely had trouble with the lvl. 9 on the 3DS.

Pix or it didn't happen.

FYI I totally anticipate the pix.
Play CPU. Run around or pretend you're dying... they'll crouch down 2 or 3 times. It's hilarious.

And I'll tell you another thing. Mii's in cruel smash aren't a joke, either. I played as Kirby to get them near the edge and suck them in. The Mii jumped out and footstooled me, I was floating my way to the top, footstooled me again, floating to the top, footstooled me once more. It did this 3 times aeriel. WTF.

Dude I did Warlock Punch spam with Ganon on Cruel Smash. On the 3DS I got 4 K.O.s but on this game I barely got 1.

I think I will switch to Jiggs and float under Battlefield a few times to see if the CPU is still dumb enough to chase you.

I knew I wasn't imagining things. The Wii U CPUs do feel much more aggressive. You know how level 9s would wait to utilt you as you're falling above them? Nope, they actually follow up now. Also, Lucina/Marf don't spam up b like ******* anymore.

I noticed all of the posts that are above this post being an actual thing, too.

...Except the moonwalk, sadly. :(

Wii-u version should be harder. It's bad enough the wii-u version is limited by the 3D$-grab version in most aspects like the roster and transforming characters. I would've been so mad if the CPUs too was limited to the capabilities of the 3DS.

People say that if you don't do anything the level 9 CPU will just panic. I can't exactly confirm it myself since I've seen it happen and it never worked out for me most of the time, so I don't know myself. Heck, there's an entire "Luigi wins by doing nothing" video of him against all 9s and he made it fine.
