Now this may just be me but I notice an incredibly stark difference between the two, namely in that the Wii U AI seems to be hugely superior.
This is a "feel" thing, but I generally can 3 stock any lvl 9 on the 3DS version without breaking a sweat. Since picking up the game, I'm not ashamed to admit that against 9s I am fighting tooth and nail for every stock. They recover low which I felt the 3DS CPU never did, making them tougher to edgeguard unless you get creative, and their own edge-guarding can be surprisingly on-point.
Does anyone else notice pretty clearly that the AI in this game seems to be superior to the 3DS? If it's true, I honestly have to wonder, why did they skimp out on giving the 3DS that kind of difficulty level to practice with?
PS. This is not a discussion about whether CPU's are good to practice with or not.
