Yeah, I'm sorta new here, so I was just wondering if there was a clause for marths against countering, because I saw alot of tournament videos with marth and none of them used countering (Not in a spammy way, but ways where it would be useful, like countering edgeguarding), or is it just a strategically bad?

Good player wont just predict and attack, they will wait for your action, so it often happens that they get a free hit after U use counter.

They do vs fox and falco, but it can be avoided by sweet spotting. If the counter hits, it's a free gimp. If they sweet spot, you get punished.

Counter is a bad edge guard. It works on lower level players or when someone messes up their upb spacing, but most good players will always be able to avoid the counter because you have to telegraph it (walk up to the edge and wait instead of jumping off the edge or spacing backwards)
